If you're looking for a great bike ride, small picnic area, a nice walk along the river, or a little escape from the feel of the city, St John's Park can give you that. There is a fully paved trail that goes both east and west along the river. Some of the walk is shaded while other parts are in direct, hot sun, so I would definitely recommend some kind of sun protection during the summer. There are smaller trails within the trees, but those are not wheelchair accessible nor would I recommend them for anybody who has trouble walking. If you had east from St Johns Park, you can follow the trail along the river, you'll pass a simple playground, Golden Valley High School, and go all the way out to Cutter Park. Following the trail west, will take you toward River Park and the target shopping center. You will also come across connecting walking trails that can take you into the heart of Visalia including the Santa Fe and Ferguson trail. I use the trail and park often, about once a week for bike rides or play dates during summer and it is one of my favorite walks/hikes outside of the Oak Preserve. Although I love St John's Park, this is not a place that I feel comfortable going alone. I always make sure I have another adult with me, especially if we have kids with us. There is a lot of transient activity at some points along the river and the dangers/odd behaviors that come with it. You should also know that because of the more "wild" feel of the St John's walk, many dog owners walk their dogs off leash.

Every year the trail becomes worse due to the increased amount of homeless tents. They've put big garbage bins out for the homeless to use but they still leave the area full of trash. So much for our local summer swimming area

Nice trail to run, walk, or bike ride along the river. There are benches, picnic table, and a playground. Could be beautiful if people picked up their trash. Wouldn't recommend going alone though.

Sigh I actually really love this trail, I walk it almost daily with my Dogs.. but The Amount Of homless people setting up camp on the trail has become Unnerving.. I don’t mind if you’re minding your business but, I should not Have to be made feeling Uncomfortable because I’m being watched By GROIPS Of homless men. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had Random people climbing out of a bush to try and get me to come smoke with them, watching these tents get bigger and more trashier by the day. Great trail! But Be prepared to deal with some crazies sometimes. If you drive here DONT LEAVE ANYThing in your...

Nice paved trail along the river. Lots of unhoused people but they usually keep to themselves. Shade is better mid morning. There are some stretches that are hot and always sunny. There are water fountains along the trail but only within a half mile of the parking lot. Trail goes for miles and is great for walks, runs, and bikes. Most people are friendly on it. Beautiful views of the mountains . The river looks nice but has a lot of trash and does not smell great. There are a few benches to sit at and rest along the trail or off to the side. Several people bring...
