Schade Vineyard & Winery — Attraction in Volga Township

Wife and I just went here on a date. Very nice place either for a date or a small get together with friends, and a nice selection of local wines. When we went we got 5 samples for $5, so good value too! Staff is very friendly.

This place deserves 5 stars, but we had a unique experience which kind of necessitates one less. As we walked to the vineyard, the friendly energetic dog (Fred? Brad?) followed us. We love dogs so it was fine. But as we walked through the archways of the vineyard, we saw Fred(?) jumping on and aggressively bitting one of the vineyard nets. We then saw a poor bird stuck in there, trying to escape him as he started to go under the net and climb up the vine. He would not listen to us and I tried to guide him away, though he was too focused on the bird. At that point we just got out of there to avoid the inevitable... On the way back we saw the remnants and yeah...that kinda ruins the mood :( Better training for Fred might help prevent this... or maybe he shouldn't follow guests where wildlife might be... or the nets could be tied tighter at the bottom to prevent birds from...

Love the wine and venue! I have had saige as a server multiple times and she is awesome, very friendly, and makes you feel welcomed! Atmosphere and charcuterie boards are great!! Our son and daughter-in-law held their wedding an reception at Schade. Every thing was awesome and went off with out a hitch.
