Do not count on staff to help you look for a lost child! We had a great time at the park, however one incident that took place will keep me from ever visiting here again. As my daughter, who is 5, and I were getting ready to leave she asked for one more time down the water slide in the Caribbean Kid area. I watched her go up, and never saw her come down. My daughter has a tendency to overdue things and take a mile when I give her an inch. I figured she just came down and went back up again. I walked around the area and couldn't find her. I went up and looked all over the equipment and still couldn't find her. After about 5 minutes of checking the area by myself, I told the first staff member that I seen that I couldn't find my daughter. She said "Sorry, I can't help you, I have to watch the other kids." (which is somewhat understandable) and directed me to another employee who was close by who had a walkie-talkie. I told him the situation, and he proceeded to check around the equipment and tell me he couldn't find her. I told him I know, I already looked, and I asked if there are procedures in place for finding a lost child, He shrugged his shoulders at me. I went to one of the bar areas near by where I last seen my daughter, not wanting to go to far away in case she came back. The woman working the bar, said to go to the front of the park by where we came in at and she would call ahead. I went up front and they said they could not do anything that I had to find the head lifeguard and report it to him! By the time I got to the front of the park only to be told that I had to go find someone else, my daughter had been lost for about 10 minutes. As a parent this is about the time that I started to panic. I noticed the woman in the concession area with a microphone calling out numbers of winners for a drawing, I approached her and told her my daughter was lost and asked her to call over the microphone for my daughter to come to the front of the park, SHE REFUSED! No one that worked in this establishment would do anything to help me find my daughter! I had to get other parents to help me find her by walking around the park screaming her name. I will never return to wild water west EVER! and if you have a child that tends to wonder or take off from you, I suggest that you...
Read moreThe new GM is running this place into the ground. As someone who worked there throughout high school and college, and has been going every summer since I was a kid, I am very concerned about the park. Everything is looking extremely rundown and no care has been put into it. Activities are becoming unsafe for people to use. Caribbean Falls has netting that was tore in two spots and it is only a matter of time before a child falls through and gets seriously injured. I know that they struggle with staffing when kids go back to school but this past Saturday (when it was 90°) there was only 1 lifeguard for the entire slide tower. No one was managing the body slide so people were going whenever and not following the safety rules. A few weeks ago when I was there and there was a lifeguard for the slide, she was letting 4 people go at one time holding onto each other's ankles. Lazy River was also only manned by 1 lifeguard who was examining her nails most of the time. There is so much grime and debris on the floor of the river and it is disgusting. A man sitting near us lit up his cigarette in his chair and there are no staff walking around to manage the park. None of the toilets in the women's bathroom would flush and there was staff member in there pouring water into the toilets. The sink in the wavepool bathroom hasn't worked the entire season and the one that does, is cold water (which again is against health code). The concession staff is not friendly nor helpful. I know the food isn't going to be exceptional, but Fran (former GM) would have never let the food get that bad. I really hope the management puts some serious time into restoring this park...
Read moreWe came, we saw…no plans to come back. From the website, we could not wait to get there btw we drove 117 miles to celebrate my grandson and nephews birthday. What a let down, the only thing I cared anything about was the lazy river. The line never did die down and we were there from about 1-7:30.
The wave pool was fun, would have been cool to get an adult beverage. That line also was an hour wait and you could only get ONE drink.
We waited an hour and 20 minutes to get our souvenir cups with pop. That however, was a great deal at 8.00 for the cup and 2.00 refills. However again. It’s bare minimum a hour to get your refill.
About 6:00 the kids were hungry. My daughter and niece volunteered to go order us a couple of pizzas and refills. After over an hour of standing in line were told they were no longer selling whole pizzas at that location. They would have to go back to the other main one. So…..no signage. Nothing to tell people that have been standing in the hot sun waiting that you are not making pizzas. Just, you have to go stand another hour in that line lol. THANK GOD, it was not me that had stood in that line that long. I would have told them to get right on that little walkie talkie and call and tell the other building to put our pizzas in the oven and take my money and I will head that away….
My grandson and nephew had a great time and that is what the trip was for. However, at $23.00 gas station discount tickets or $30.00 at the gate. It is definitely overpriced for the experience.
We would have had just as much fun at the local community pool for $5.00 and a 15...
