If ever the expression “Diamond in the rough” applied, this little piece of wine heaven is the place. Roger, the wine maker, and his wife and wine partner Lucinda, exceed any and all expectations on every level! In a wonderfully quaint tasting room, Roger and Lucinda gave us a very personal and in-depth understanding of what it really means to grow and make wine in the Milton Freeman Rocks AVA. Their journey is an exciting tale of the critical importance of doing the educational work necessary to truly learn the craft before trying to make fine wines. Growing most of their own grapes, in the heart of the Rocks District AVA, every bottle, of their more than a dozen varietals and blends, is an exceptional addition to Roger’s eclectic range of magnificent award winning wines. If you are lucky enough to be invited into the “64 degree office” you will see the display of a dozen amazing wines draped in multiple medals from very prestigious ratings. Stop in to see Roger and Lucinda and you will come away more knowledgeable about “Rocks District” wine. You’ll also have a few bottles of great wine to take home and some new friends in the wine making business!

I’ve never enjoyed wine more than Roger's Cosecha de Luna 2018 Reserve Mourvedre and Zaragueya de Luna 2019 Reserve Sangiovese Rose. The quality of these wines is found in the growing of the grapes. Los Rocosos Vineyard is located in one of the two best areas in Oregon to grow wine, the Walla Walla valley. This valley, like the Rogue Valley in southern Oregon, provides a warmer wine growing climate. Los Rocosos grapes have an added advantage. They are grown in the dark basalt soil that makes up the Rock District of Milton-Freewater. The Rock District is unique because of its cobblestone-rich soil that allows the vines to root deeper while the dark soil absorbs more solar radiation. In addition to being a Viticoltore, Roger and Lucinda offer B&B accommodations at this working vineyard. If you are so lucky as to get a reservation, insist Roger make his amazing oatmeal porridge. This is a dog friendly place where dogs roam the vineyard and howling contests are a nightly occurrence. Roger usually has the loudest howl. My dogs can’t wait to return. I can’t wait to enjoy this season’s varietals.

This winery is a wonderful stop if you want to feel well-connected with the area, learn fascinating facts about wine and viticulture of the valley, and spend time chatting with a very kind and engaging owner. Roger was an absolute pleasure to chat with, and made us feel like we were honored guests. We were lucky we had plenty of time when we stopped because we got caught up so much in chatting with him that we lost track of time. Of course the wines are very good too, especially the Tempranillo! It was so cool to learn about where all the grapes came from (most from his vinyard, but not all), and how the different geology impacted the grapes of each varietal. You can't beat good wine and good conversation! Definitely check this place out!

I was lucky enough to be able to visit Los Rocosos Vineyards. The timing was perfect because I was able to sit amongst the vines heavy with grapes and enjoy wonderful wine! Over the past couple years I have tried almost every wine that Los Rocosos Vineyard produces and I can say I have very much enjoyed each and everyone. But if I had to choose one, it would be the Reserve Merlot. It was a fantastic paring with steak. It has great ripe fruit flavor with hints of cherry and plum. Merlot can be very dry but Los Rocosos Vineyard's Reserve Merlot was just dry enough to be very drinkable and a smooth mellow wine. Roger walked me around the vineyard showing me the many different varieties of grapes that he was growing. Los Rocosos Vineyards provides wonderful wine for every taste. My orders are shipped across the country and I am always waiting with anticipation for the next delivery. Thank you Roger and Los...
