Got to lookout pass to rent our equipment. Went inside WITH our 8 pound miniature schnauzer. Employees saw her (including a “supervisor”), and NO ONE said a word. NOWHERE on their website or in their written information does it say that dogs aren’t allowed on the trail. The ONLY time you see that dogs are not allowed is when you receive a piece of paper with the instructions on getting to the trailhead. We then got our bikes, helmets, and lights loaded up into the bed of our truck. We drove all the way to the top of the trailhead, got our equipment on and ready to go, and our schnauzer in her front carrier secured on my husband’s chest. We get all the way to the start of the trail and an old man in a yellow school bus tells us the small dog isn’t allowed on the trail (claimed it was for the dog’s safety and also claimed it’s ALL over their website and written information which IT IS NOT), and then he had the audacity to act as if he was doing us a favor by permitting a full refund of the money we just paid for the all of the rental equipment and trail tickets/shuttle. Utterly ridiculous and a waste of our time. Don’t waste your money. There are other friendlier trails that are MUCH less complicated. We were told the area was dog friendly. Apparently not!

As to the owner’s reply:

You should have stopped after your first paragraph. Your employees don’t need to be mind readers in order to be simply properly trained. The rating is for the complete lack of customer service and communication. The way we were treated was unnecessary. Didn’t need to ride the trail in order to give your business a proper review. BOTH my husband and I have been to your website multiple times now and haven’t seen the listed rules about not bringing a dog. And dogs are most definitely allowed in national parks. We’ve brought her into several without issue. Again, she’s an 8 pound schnauzer that was secured to my husband’s chest in a front carrier. She wasn’t going anywhere and wouldn’t have been able to move had she even wanted to move from her harness.

Shame on you for suggesting people should leave their dogs in their cars. Especially on a warmer day - it was 64 at the trailhead and there wasn’t a shady spot to park.

My review stands. Train your employees properly. How hard is it to train them to say a simple sentence when they see a dog/pet? “Hey, what’s the plan for your pup because they can’t go on the trail.” And don’t make the customer feel like a favor is being done when...

If you're a beginner to intermediate snowboarder, this mountain is NOT for you! If you're an advanced snowboarder or skier, this might be your place.

We received lift ticket vouchers from the Inlander Winter Party in Spokane. We were excited, cuz we've never been. Found out too late that we couldn't use the vouchers ("valid opening day thru December 16, 2022 or March 6, 2023 thru end of season"). Calling the office to explain we work 5-6 days a week & have a hard time taking Sunday- Fridays off, yielded no results from the manager. I wasn't expecting to use them entirely, but maybe a little leeway on 1 lift ticket? Nor reaching out via Facebook messenger. When I mentioned that I would just tear up the vouchers, we were still coming, but would prolly never be back, the response? A thumbs up emoji! 👍 The lack of caring & professionalism was shocking!

The lifties also are so focused on shoveling perfect snow stairs to their booths, that when I fell off of chair 3, no one slowed the chair down, or stopped them. My husband had to drag me out of the way of on coming riders.

It was the most uncaring mountain visit we've ever experienced!

IN RESPONSE TO LOOKOUT'S COMMENT... I have since learned that we are not the only ones amongst friends, family & clients that have had a disappointing experience with Lookout. With that being said, I never said it was Lookout's fault for our misreading/misunderstanding the fine print, nor did I say it was hidden. I admitted to the mistake. I also have never asked a ski resort to change their restrictions. I WAS hoping for maybe a half off of one lift ticket, or maybe assistance on helping us find another way/day to use the voucher. Now, "just saying"... (as you so rudely put it) my husband is a truck driver Monday-Fridays. I work Monday-Saturdays. So to say that "it's on you" to find days that work (which since it's a long drive that would mean we would want to stay overnight near there), is a small undertaking, to say the least. As to the professional response to this review & the thumbs up? Just saying? "I'm sorry this happened to you & that we were unable to accomodate you at this time."...

Be careful when renting equipment for the Hiawatha trail. The trail is amazing but this company is running a scam. Somehow they have gained control and are the only company renting out bikes directly at the start of the trail. The bikes they use are junk. The bike I rented did fine going down the hill. Once at the bottom the line for the shuttle stretched as far as the eye can see. After waiting for what seemed like forever. I gave up on the shuttle I had prepaid for, and began my ride back up the hill. The bike chain popped and it felt like the bike was going to fall apart. After riding over 15 miles uphill the whole way I waited at the parking area for roughly 45min for my friend to reach the parking area on the shuttle. That’s right, I can’t even remember the last time I rode a bike and I still beat the shuttle to the top. It took hours for my friend to get through the line and catch up with me. When I returned my bike I mentioned the issues I was having with it. As I waited for my friend I watched what would happen to my poor worn out bike. Well, it quickly went back in the pile for some poor soul the following day. Yes! A giant pile of bikes. This company charges customers a “transportation” fee to pick up their bikes at the trail instead of the resort. Funny thing is they are not “transported”. They are simply chained up on the hill so they can charge thousands of people each summer for a service that doesn’t happen. If you want to charge more be honest about it! It’s simply dishonest to charge a fee for a service that isn’t provided. Considering they likely store these hunks of junk on public property they should be the ones paying a daily fee for each bike to be stored. Moral of the story, Hiawatha is amazing but rent your bike from someone else, and don’t count on their...

We took our grandkids to Lookout for the first time this winter. The resort seemed very family friendly. The rental service dept. was very helpful. The locker rentals were in poor condition, and it took 30 minutes of our time to get someone to help us get one to work. We had the 5 year old take a beginner lesson. We paid for an hour, but the instructor was running about 10 min late from a previous lesson and only gave our child 45 min. We weren't happy about not getting the full time that we paid for. We've heard that the mountain has some great runs, but we spent our time on the bunny run teaching the kiddos, so we can't rate the runs. We brought a picnic lunch and ate in the cafeteria area. Being a health professional, I noticed a lack of sanitary cleaning. The tables were sticky, floors were dirty, and trash can was overflowing. The downstairs bathroom needed cleaning as well. It was quite busy with families with children, so some of that is understandable, but it still was not at an acceptable level of cleanliness. I give the overall resort friendliness five stars. Cleanliness, two stars max. Child lesson 2 stars. We've read that they offer free ski school to kids, which is great. Rentals cost & lift tickets beyond the instruction time also cost. But it's still a great service, and it would save families a lot as far as lessons go. We're considering ski school for the kids next winter. But we hope that some things listed above will improve by next season. If we decide to give Lookout another try, we'll get some adult skiing in while the kids are in ski school, and we'll be able to rate the runs next season. Then we'll decide if our overall review warrants a season pass purchase.

I had a great time! The acreage doubled after they got the new peak. It's better than expected for me. Extra info: Lookout Pass ski resort is a hidden gem nestled in the Bitterroot Mountains of northern Idaho. This family-friendly ski area offers a fantastic mix of challenging terrain, stunning views, and affordable lift ticket prices. With 1000+ acres of skiable terrain, Lookout Pass provides ample opportunities for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. Beginners can take advantage of the ski school, while advanced skiers can tackle the steep chutes and tree runs on the backside of the mountain. The resort also offers night skiing on select days, allowing visitors to enjoy the slopes well into the evening. In addition to its diverse terrain, Lookout Pass boasts some of the best snow conditions in the region, thanks to its location in the snow belt of the Bitterroot Mountains. The resort receives an average of 400 inches of snow annually, ensuring plenty of fresh powder throughout the season. Beyond skiing and snowboarding, Lookout Pass offers other winter activities, including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. The lodge provides a cozy place to relax and warm up, with a restaurant, bar, and fireplace. Overall, Lookout Pass is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for an affordable and fun ski resort experience. With its great terrain, reliable snow conditions, and friendly staff, it's no wonder why many visitors return year after year.
