Great addition to Shades State Park. We hiked part of #10 after hiking the hikes at Shades. Turkeybackbone, Mill Cut and The Slide are interesting but Devil's Backbone and Honeycomb Rock are where the action and drama happen! Signage for Devil's Backbone is hidden behind brush so we missed it until after we hiked Honeycomb Rock which proved to be far more risky hiking from that direction. It would have been safer hiking it up from Devil's Backbone trail head.

Great place to hike in central IN. You have to enter Shades State Park and then take a right to get to the trail head. The trail is well marked and medium difficulty. There are a few stream crossings so be prepared to have wet feet. If you like plants, there are tons of beautiful forest interior plants. This is a less crowded place to hike than Shades and just as beautiful.

Love the hiking here! It’s an amazing view and wonderful preserve. It is worth the trip to the spine to hike across and to enjoy the nature. The view is unmatched especially in Indiana. It’s an easy enough high but some climbing over rocks to the top. You can enjoy it still if you don’t climb to the top.

The trails wind around so much I ended up going in circles for about 45 minutes before I figured out how to find stairs. Needs to have markers pointed back to the stairs out. Afterwards ranger saw two ticks on my face which she pointed 👉 out for me to remove. Took a shower at home. I had weed rash on my legs and forehead. There’s no cell reception. If you can't get out you might spend the night there. To get from parking to stairs going down takes 25 minutes. Some alternative stairs are blocked off as closed. Thick brush blocked any good views. Old growth trees 🌳 are neat. I don't...

Very Interesting short hikes big payoff for little effort. Bring clothes and shoes to play in stream. You can just do north loop for shorter walk. I would insist an adult supervise crossing the backbones if children are present. Turkey backbone would be a rough slide and recovery. Devils backbone would result In a series injury or death. Honeycomb rock is a great place to stop and eat/play/take nap. Not crowded when we were here....
