First the PROS: PRICE, you only pay $15 per human with no up charge for anything except paintball and food. CROWDS, the place is so spread out that there is room for 10 times as many people than what I experienced. TRAIN: seems to be the only thing partially maintained. PARKING: lots of good, dry ground to park on. CONS: STAFF: Deceit, attitude, laziness from the entrance gate to the exit gate. Everyone raves about the food, Some of the attraction attendants act as if you are disturbing them from their break, the general store attendant also runs the food window so I wanted to speed things up by letting the cook know what I wanted so she could be cooking, the clerk said ok that will be $6.50 and I said that is not all of my order, just the kitchen part. and she replied with this hand on the hip head shaking attitude about how I went around her and placed my order already. I'm thinking how easy it is to offend her. Everything I said was either wrong or I was not waiting long enough to let her help me so 10 min later I was finally done with that. and that brings me to the next CON: FOOD: Honestly, save your money for some gas station sushi or a corndog that has been under the heat lamp for 10 hours because it is a far cry better than this place. $8.50 for 5 nuggets and a corn dog that could not be bitten through, between the 3 of us we didn't finish any of it. MAINTENANCE: everything is in disrepair, has insect infestations, spiderwebs, the railing is nearly falling off the hayride trailer, you don't even want your kids anywhere near the Tee Pee in the Indian village. and the putt putt golf is just plain worn out and hols full of dirt. The kids will love the train ride and the cattle feeding hayride, as well as all of the other activities, but as a parent you will cringe at some of the lawsuits waiting to happen here.
Bil Brunson replied to this post on Oct 27, 2014 the reply is as follows:
Notice you gave negative review for the Oil Ranch. Did you notify the Mgmt. About any of your complaints? You gave them props for keeping their cost down but expected to be maintained like a 100.00 ticket to Disney world? I go there often and their focus is on animals and educating kids. Never have I been any outdoor venue where the food was why I went there. It just bothers me when someone does not let anyone know about items that were issues and thinks they need to post negative reviews. And my reply; So,Bil Brunson, you think people should say nothing about the negative, and rave about the good? No, the review feature is there to give your honest opinion or an account of what happened to forewarn potential patrons. As I explained, I was "LIED TO" about the quality of the food or I would have never gone anywhere near the snack bar, and this review would have been much different because of the 2 main negative things I would have not have experienced, both of which were a blatant choice by a representative of the establishment. Which brings up another negative point that angers me, they stole $8.50 from me by selling inedible crap to me through a lie which made the sale possible. My wife bit into one of those nuggets and spit it right back out, then my daughter (without seeing her mother do it) repeated the action, so that was a really expensive box of colored water (juice). And you honestly think management has no Idea that employees at the front gate are trying to promote the snack bar? Or perhaps you might think it slips their comprehension of the quality of food they serve? They need to be told the place is falling apart? I'm pretty sure that Ass hole at the snack bar has no idea she has an attitude problem and has no business dealing with the public. Did you have another question so I could enlighten the...
Read moreTook my 2 yr old son. This place was amazing! Good learning environment for the kids. We started off on the far right by the pool. There was a barn with pigs, baby pigs, chickens, chicks, a few sheep, goat(we snuck in and petted the goat!), horse, turtles, pile of hay to play in and a cow that you can milk if you choose to. (maybe next time little man will milk the cow - he was scarred this time.) There was also a few turkeys that the guy said "whistle and they will gobble" - So, I whistled and sure enough "gobble gobble gobble!" Next we did the hay ride pulled by a tractor. The guy gave us a hand full of (cow food?) and when we got half way through the hay ride a heard of cows came running up and stuck their heads into the trailer and wanted food (IT WAS AWESOME!). Then we went on the train ride which gives you a good view of what else you're going to do next (nice lake, tons of ducks). We eventually made it to the petting zoo after my gf and I spun around on this big-huge-swing-thingy (our son looking on as we was crazy parents). The baby goats ate out of my hand gently so I let my 2 yr old give it a go, they seemed to gently eat out of his hand. We didn't get a chance to do the hamster wheel things that looked fun or the pony rides but next time it's on! There is a 3ft pool and water slide that we'll do on our next go (we didn't have swim suits - although it was so hot we was about to strip down and jump in).
Also, the staff was friendly (gave us a golf cart ride to the car and there was coolers all over the place filled with ICE. COLD. WATER. Mmmm, the water...
Read moreGreat location, lots of fun activities, great environment. I'm only giving two stars because myself and my kids had fun until we got to the gate. They advertise free pumpkins and have a completely separate section for pumpkins available for purchase, but then at the gate add rules and stipulations as you leave. No signage stating only one free mini pumpkin per child- it is advertised "free pumpkins". My husband has had a divorce (his ex also attended), and we got a pumpkin for each child per household (5 total) and they would not let us leave the gate and proceeded to say it's only one pumpkin per child. Our children were standing right there as they informed the children that they could not have a pumpkin for both households. They refused to listen or budge, and then acted like we were being irrational or trying to steal miniature pumpkins. We were literally only grabbing two more than the original three. Just so that my husband and I could have some for our house, but they were absolutely unprofessional , apathetic, and unaccommodating. They were very rigid, cold, and unsympathetic. Especially considering that their advertising causes confusion. Like I said, great until we tried to leave the gate with our...
