Watch your step as many critters creep, crawl, and slither hither and thither! Sometimes they are brazen enough to cross your path other times they hide behind the grasses or hope you didn't take note of them. Leave no trace when you enter and remember this is but the beginning of a journey!

Open year-round Beautiful to visit anytime Most of the trail has a gentle slope of 5% or less There are steeper sections at around 0.6-0.8 miles and 1.4 miles when heading south Trail is in an open area that has little shade.

The Castle Rock trail is my go-to when I need a short escape + workout. It has some good hills, great views and an occasional run-in with the local wildlife. Dogs can go off-leash once up in the hills.

If you all are from Walnut Creek Concord Area this is a Go-To if you want to see forests, and greenery. During weekdays, there aren't too many people and you experience a sense of solitude and one with nature, unlike in parks.

One of my happy places in the world. Challenging trail and definitely for an experienced hiker. Parking lot is tiny, and fills up fast so I would go pretty early.

Views are gorgeous and great place to think and escape from hectic...
