Odd. Park not locked at night. Eerie. Employees leave. Strange vehicles arrive and park here in the darkness at end of day. Homeless? Beautiful park in the daytime. Love the pull-through full-hookups rv space we got tonight. Unsure about dark-of-the-night after-hours vehicles driving through park. We saw one truck at dusk that looked like he drove into park from the wooded area down below lake. That truck parked in dark over by bathrooms in rv section then moved over behind Visitor’s Center then moved again over by rv bathrooms. We are the only rv unit here tonight. Another vehicle came and parked for awhile near playground then slowly pulled out with only parking lights on. Other states solve this security problem by locking park entrance at night. Edit: here comes another strange car in the night. 2nd car now parked next to truck parked by rv bathrooms. Edit2: I think strange truck and car have left? Won’t know until morning, I guess. Edit3: 7AM. New white van backed into space over by rv bathrooms. Looks like they came here to sleep. Truck from last night now parked off blacktop into the woods near rv bathrooms. Are the bathrooms and showers left open all night? We had a very quiet night except for all the strange vehicles at odd hours of the night. Cute squirrels came right up to our camp this morning like they were saying hello. Park needs to be secured at night, in my opinion. Edit4: on driving out this morning, we saw new white van had reserved an rv spot. The strange truck in the night that kept moving around we saw this morning it had people beside it camping in a tent with...
Read moreDid you know Old Davidsonville was the very first 9 blocks in Arkansas? Or that it is the home to the very first post office and courthouse in Arkansas? Well now you do! I absolutely love all the history and educational opportunities this place has to offer. It is nice and quiet even with a campground full of people. The waters are calm and you can sit and watch the fish jump. Not only is the park very well taken care of but so are the campsites and bathhouse. The visitor center has a boat you can go inside of and look at things you would have seen back when they where settling here in Arkansas. Don't forget to pick up a state book and stamp it while you're in there! The Rangers are extremely helpful at answering any questions you may have and if you buy firewood from them they will deliver to your campsite for you! Which I definitely suggest doing because 1 you're putting money back into our state park and 2 you're not bring in bugs that aren't from this area which could cause a terrible amount of damage in a short amount of time. They also offer canoes to rent and have some beautiful trails to hike. They even have a playground to let your little ones run around and tire down. Not too far from walmart in Pocahontas if, unfortunately, you forget something; but far enough where you don't hear all the traffic from the city. We definitely plan on coming back to camp here in the...
Read moreWe definitely enjoyed our stay at Davidsonville. We fished, walked trails, and learned a little history while we were here. There is a nice area for primitive camping and the camper spots were good size with a picnic table, large gathering area, fire pit, grill, and a tent pad. Many of the camp sites are AAA. The bath houses were clean but it would have been nice if they were private like others we have seen. You can rent paddleboats here also...but they weren't even on site yet and the park ranger was unaware if they were going to get them out of storage. The park is full of walking trails, one that takes you on a tour of the beginnings of this town. And if you get an itch to fish but forgot your pole, they have some at the visitor center you can check out. They will even give you some extra bobbers and hooks! We...
