My family and I really enjoy this park. My little grandsons love the two slides and they love to walk on the trail with their parents where they see geese and turtles. My son and daughter-in-law brought their dog -- on a leash -- and their dog was exuberantly happy at the park. There is great visibility, so you can see your children and pets at all times. A particular plus for me, since I am handicapped, is that one of the 4 picnic tables has the bench removed from one of the 4 sides for a wheelchair or walker. The picnic tables have benches on all 4 sides and each bench sits 2 adults, so 8 adults can sit at each table. There is a water fountain with a spout for adults, one lower down for children, and one almost to the ground for pets. It's a family and pet friendly park. The only thing I wish it had is more playground equipment for the children in addition to the two slides. But my young grandsons seem to have a perfectly fine time when they are there; they don't complain about the lack of playground equipment. I am very glad that the city...
Read moreIt's a solid set of walking paths. The first one you encounter, the Chuck Mauk walkway, is a rather short wooden boardwalk over some water and leads to the larger grassy park. The grassy park is a public standalone expanded green area next to an apartment complex. There are also a couple of park patios with shady overhangs for when you need a break from the sun. These overhangs also have wooden tables, so it's a great place for picnics! I personally enjoyed my tuna sandwich on one of these and had a great time. You'll notice two yellow slides atop a large grassy hill. There are usually kids sliding down the slides, as this is a family friendly park. And yes, I did slide down the slides(slides are awesome). The second walkway you'll encounter is the Parker Killian Moore walkway, named after the young man slain during an armed robbery in January of 2018. This walkway features about half a mile of lush greenery over a swampy area, where you can see many different fun animals. All in all, 10/10,...
Read moreGreat start. The longer boardwalk trail ("Parker's Trail") is idyllic and well shaded. The "Chucky's View" trail is a much shorter walk but has a nice view overlooking Sandy Run Creek. I was pleasantly surprised that neither trail struck me as particularly "swampy". The green space in between the two trails, connected by a sidewalk loop, has a pavilion and a couple tall hill slides, but there are plans for a bit more landscaping including trees, which will be quite nice. Realize, it might be hard to spend more than an hour or so here with kids due to the relatively short trails, but I could definitely enjoy sitting with a book on one of the benches on the...
