Great collection, inspirational message, wonderful gift shop.

My family visited on Saturday after Thanksgiving. We all loved it. My kids were captivated.

I suggest preparing your children so they get the most out of it.

We prepared by watching last of the Mohicans and Dances with wolves. Going to Stonehenge the day before also helped keep the kids engaged. Actually it was a nice contrast. The stones being outside, huge beautiful natural absent human tooling. And the MKIM inside full of color, jnyricate and small, alive with patterns and human ingenuity.

I'm not a big giftshop booster, I lean towards skepticism, but all my kids were able to find something they liked, even my wife and I found something and the prices were more than reasonable. And even if they were not, I still would have bought them bc the money helps support the MKIM mission.

A worth while and...

This place has become like a personal home and backyard to us. We stopped by at Nancy's suggestion in August 2010 in our way home from climbing Mount Kearsarge. I left a few botanical suggestions at the museum desk and the next day was astounded to recieve a phone call from the museum founder, Bud Thompson, regarding his medicine woods trail. I am happy to say this was the first of countless collaborations I've enjoyed with Bud and the museum staff in the intervening eleven years. I have learned more ethnobotany and given time and love to this unique project than I can possibly explain. Every citizen in this state should visit and support this fun place, regardless of age...

-Enjoy !FREE! if your of Native Heritage-Great Immersive experience! The staff are very welcoming and informative. My partner and I enjoyed the museum much more than we originally expected just coming across it on google for things to do around us while we were vacationing for July 4th, decided to see how it was out of genuine interest and also my Wampanoag heritage. Pleasantly surprised with the exhibits showcasing many different tribes way of life, techniques, clothing, tools, cultural differences.. The gift shop had, no doubt, really great things to take home at a little high cost but- 100% worth the cost because the things they have for sale are works of art. Highly...

If you're interested in learning about local tribes, this is the place to visit. Tucked away on a hill in Warner, NH, in the Kearsarge Woods, there is a small museum dedicated to the Abenaki tribe, both in modern and prehistoric contexts. The museum's displays are continually changing and expanding. During my visit, I was fortunate enough to experience a powwow, which was truly an immersive cultural experience. There were many vendors showcasing their crafts, which you could purchase. This is definitely a wonderful spot for a family day out and offers a wealth of information about the local Native American culture.

An amazing experience and walk through the history of North American Indian culture. The guides are knowledgeable and friendly. Low entry cost and definitely worth it. See things from every region and gain a memory you'll never forget. Enjoy the peace and serenity of their medicine trail or one of their seasonal festivals with interactive traditions for all ages. There is one coming up on the weekend of 10/1/21. The passion and heart for the history of this culture is evident from the moment you step foot inside.. Posted by The Whitaker Review
