The best part of this park is it's accessibility from the city and the versatility that the park has in terms of sheer adventure. A small trail system is available for hiking during high- and low-tide. Low tide gives you access to more of the park, including the jetty and islands.
There is a jetty perfect for rock hopping and getting a ways away from solid land to watch the gentle waves of the Upper Narragansett Bay. Fishers will be enjoying different spots frequently, but only during low tide, as the high tide often blocks people from accessing the jetty.
Parking is available near a playground, where in the Summer a portapotty will also be. Just be aware of the various park attendees might be visiting the park for bird watching, science measuring, fishing, exercising, being outside, or taking naps in cars because people are retired and they don't care what's going on.
Occasionally there will be the awkward teenager/young adult hanging out waiting for something to do, but generally the park goers are friendly when needed and respectful otherwise.
Be aware that high tide comes fast, people have had to call the Warwick Fire Department to get rescued because the water comes up fast and blocks people from getting back onto dry land.
Bring your fishing rod, your camera, your kayak, or whatever. It is a subtle park with a lot to offer that deserves...
Read moreThis park was pretty nice for a quick hike on the jetty, looking at the water and the Swans! (Which was a treat!) There looks like a fun playground for kids and there are about 30 (?) parking spots. There was a lot of care taken to label tree and plant species, and creating a nice entrance, as well as a nice gravel path to the jetty.
Several things that were disappointing was the amount of litter on the shore. So many shopping bags caught in the shore brush! As I walked along the small island on the right of the jetty, there was an incredible amount of graffiti on the rocks. Nothing inappropriate, and some you could tell took time. I would think with so much effort to beautify the park, a bit more attention to the amount of trash and broken glass bottles that littered the shore. We will go back in the spring for sure, with some trash bags, and help clean up. This place was...
Read moreThis little "park" is truly a hidden gem. We happened upon it, en route to a friend's home and decided to take a gander. At first glance, the attraction appeared to be just a small wooded area with a little lot for parking. But once we ventured onto the pathways, it was clear this was a truly special place. Many trees and other flora have little botanical placards hanging from the branches. You can use your phone to utilize QR scanners for certain features to acquire a more informed understanding about the local ecology. You are most certain to see various water fowl. If you're feeling adventurous, there's a jetty which might be peppered with people casually exploring and fishing. I'd recommend this small, yet larger than life attraction to anyone who wants to escape to a beautiful...
