While i'm slightly prejudiced because I live on clear lake, I do believe that it is a spectacular lake. It offers amazing breezes, amazing recreation. I recently moved to waseca from the cities and wouldn't change it for the world. I do want to shed some light on the errors of the lake association, the city, and potentially the county in that they do not have the best interest of the lake or the people in mind when they make decisions regarding the lake . Since moving here have done a ton of research on the lake, it's history, those in charge and have found very troubling decisions that the people who are in charge have made and it has led to clear lake being on lists that it certainly doesn't want to be on. It has made its way onto dangerous territory list with contaminants. They regularly spray toxic chemicals to kill the mosquitoes instead of looking at more natural remedies, such as increasing their dragonfly population or Cattails even, I mean, there are many different options besides the chemicals that they spray, the chemicals that they spray do, indeed, then kill all of our other pollinators. they also dump raw sewage into the lake, and while they do put up a sign when they do that, they've been doing it regularly for a long time. And it's something that clearly needs to stop. if they need to develop a plan for their sewage, they need to think of a different way instead of just dumping it into the lake. It's a very lake heavy recreation city, and all of their lakes are very poorly managed again I have been here 6-7 months now we'll be making my way if possible to the lake association to try to help remedy some of the problems.. They have another lake in town that they have a bird with toxic feces that it's killing the island in the middle of the lake, so they're just want to shoot them. Instead of thinking of other remedies to make the birds go elsewhere. Seems a little ridiculous to me.. but.. it appears that with the new annexation plans and other recent council choices, the city is looking to increase its tax base. With that increase in population they will have more waste to deal with and imo clear lake shouldn't be the remedy. But I do love it here.. they just need to seriously address their decision...
