Went on a Saturday recently. Great place to visit with all the necessities - like delicious apples.
A few pros: no charge for parking or admission friendly staff onsite wood-oven pizza (cash only) delicious apples! great farm products including cider and apple cider donuts and honey wide open space to enjoy a walk with your dog and/or picnic many many rows of apples to choose from - we had more than half a dozen varieties to choose from
Some cons: bathrooms are portable bathrooms, clean but still some might want to visit a restroom before hand rows of trees are marked by letter but not by name (but in all honesty, was easy to navigate based on chalk board at counter) dogs are not allowed in the orchard (for code reasons) can get very windy due to high altitude, though was mostly pleasant for my trip
Overall, wonderful experience without the crazy crowds and touristy...
Read moreI have been picking apples at Averill's Farm since I was fumbling around grabbing "drops" under a Baldwin tree as a toddler overseen by my mom, Marge. Fast forward...in the late 70's I meet Sam Averill and later, his wife Susan, sang a song at their wedding (during blossom "show" season) out in the orchard and, now, in my later 60's, I still go there. The sheer history, the variety of fruits, the positive energy and the love that lives on that hill is a beacon. So if you haven't been there, go! If you've been thinking of going there but haven't yet, shame on you! Fix...
Read moreAverill Farm is the best place to pick apples. They have a wide variety of apples rotating throughout the season. What they have that others do not - history; a beautiful scenic view where the rolling hill provides a 360 view of the area, no charge to enter or park, and well kept grounds. They keep the orchard clean of rotting fruit which helps keep the bees away from your apple picking adventure. I’ve searched for other orchards closer to where I live and no one comes close to Averill. If I have the opportunity to go, I will. It’s fun for literally any age. The pizza truck is a nice addition! I hope you have 10 more...
