This is a great little museum in Long Beach, Washington and it's free admission! We enjoyed learning about cranberries and their history in the area. When we went, the cranberries were in their "flowering stage". There is a great gift store with awesome merchandise. The cranberry ice cream and cranberry chocolate truffles were delicious. Please don't miss this little gem if you are in the Long Beach or Seaview area. EDIT : I purchased a number of items in the gift store including a T- shirt and just got around to washing it after my travels from several weeks ago. I washed it (before wearing it) according to washing instructions and was super disappointed to find most of the design on the back ( map of the Peninsula) was almost completely washed off and the front with " The Cranberry Peninsula" design was also partially faded off. This is after only 1 wash!!! I wore shirt only one day and hem on bottom of shirt had started to unravel by the end of the day. WTH! The manufacturer of the T- shirt was "Port & Company". The T-shirt was lovely in the store.... Might want to think twice about purchasing one of these T-shirts....
Read moreI always enjoy stopping by a farm to learn about the production of food, and this Is an unique place to visit cranberry bogs with a museum and a gift shop.
A self-guided tour of the bogs starts with a map in the mailbox in the front of the gift shop.
You will see bogs with different varieties of cranberries, and some areas have flags in them for research on disease, weed, and insect issues.
Information signs are in front of the bogs as you walk down the center of the dike road.
The museum has equipment and machinery that help to explain the differences between wet and dry harvesting.
You will also find displays on the history of the Cranberry Research Station, and on marketing programs to help drive demand for the berries.
Located in the north part of Long Beach on Pioneer Road.
