My family spend a great deal of time here in the summer, we usually spend most of our time near the bridge because my kiddos are older and like to jump and dive, vs spending time near the swings or river area. I wouldn't use the dock in the summer because the water is way to low for a boat to navigate the river, also the dock is broken and wouldn't know how to get your boat launched ever, an accident waiting to happen there. Kayaks would be a blast to take down the river and the only boat I would use. Fishing could be plentiful, lots of smaller and larger fish swim near us while swimming. We also take our dog with us and he really enjoys swimming to the island in the center near the bridge. There is a rope swing that the older kids use, be careful (warning) only the skilled swimmers use that. Also older kids like to jump from the bridge and so little kids should be supervised at all times. There is 2 bathrooms, 1 on the other side near the bridge that's pretty gross and not suited for little kids, the 2nd bathroom is near the parking lot on the right side of the road and it's great for changing into a bathing suit. Overall a great place for families to BBQ and...
Read more🌳There are two Daybreak Parks: one on the east side of the street with a walking trail, and Daybreak Park Boat Launch on the west. High river levels years ago damaged the east - side trail, but intrepid folks carved out rugged paths.
I frequent the west - side park. It has a large parking lot and an easy walking trail popular for dog - walking and stroller - pushing. The boat - launch area's effectiveness varies with water flow and season. People float, fish, or just relax on lunch benches here. Watch for uneven ground and slippery rocks near the river.
This park is great for fishing, hiking, and picnicking. Winter brings high river levels, so caution is key. I visited before a thick fog set in; the park had a cool, eerie vibe. The East Fork Lewis River here is renowned for clear water, and even in fog, the river rocks' colors shine.
It's well - maintained, like most parks in Battle Ground. There are playgrounds, picnic tables, hiking trails, and open spaces. The south side of the Daybreak Bridge has a boat - launch spot too. I'll return when it's sunnier. I highly recommend a visit; you won't be...
Read moreFirst thing to know: there are TWO Daybreak Parks. The EAST side of the street is Daybreak Park which is a walking trail. The WEST side of the street is Daybreak Park Boat Launch. A few years ago the river came up very high and washed out part of thde walking trail on the East Side (Daybreak Park). Some brave souls came along since then and forded their own rough walking trail around the broken paved path, so know that. The WEST side aka the Boat Launch is the place I frequent. It has a large parking area, and an open easy walking trail that a lot of folks walk their dogs or babies in strollers heads off from there. There's also a boat launch which is more or less effective depending on water flow and time of year. Lots of folks float the river in a riverboat, some fish here, and some come and sit on one of the lunch benches and watch the river. Traffic goes by overhead, as the street you turn off of becomes an overpass bridge. If you do come here by the river, be careful for uneven ground, wet slippery rocks, and be on the lookout for stray fishing hooks. Overall, I...
