My boat broke, it was over heating. I had launched it at the public ramp. To save damage I took it to the Dear Lake Resort private ramp, Because it was much closer. I ask the new owner if I could get my truck and get my broken boat out of the water at her ramp. The answer was yes that would cost ($15.00,) I live 1/4 mile form Dear Lake. I was not surprised because of recent similar reports along with the new rules regulations and restrictions including no day relaxing on the grass at camp ground. Read moreGrew up on the north side of this lake. It is an extremely beautiful place. There is some hiking if you go down N. Deer Lake rd, turn right down the fork like your going to West Bay Resort, turn right down South Wood Shore Road and follow it about 1000 ft or so right before it turns into a dirt road. There is a little turn off point on the right where you can climb a large hill, and there are several trails that run along a ridge. It can be take all the way up to some radio towers.
The only negative thing, a lot of the lake has become private rich vacation homes. No public beaches. There is a public boat launch on N....
