Douglas Falls is a beautiful place to camp, picnic and enjoy nature. That being said, before you go--be aware (especially for overnight camping) that the host is often not on site which creates a free-for-all environment. We camped for the weekend and were subjected to a large group of degenerates who played blaring music at all hours, screaming and fighting constantly, had a vicious dog NOT ON A LEASH that kept us from visiting the falls and going to certain areas of the campground and although there was a burn ban in place, had several campfires over the weekend. I went to use the bathroom early in the morning and when I opened the door was met face to face with a pitbull baring his teeth and growling--which was the last straw. Since we didn't have cell service, had to drive 3 miles to call the Sheriff----who showed up 2 hours later but did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING and drove away without even talking to me! If you have an emergency here, you are ON YOUR OWN. The campground host's daughter happened to be there cleaning and called the DNR--who showed up and was extremely professional and concerned about the situation but the offending campers conveniently stayed away until after he left so the chaos continued--(actually got worse). Our last night there the noise, music, fighting and screaming got so bad we had to pack up our entire site in the dark and move across the creek to another spot about 1/2 mile away but could STILL hear them. The campers causing all the trouble didn't even have a Discover Pass (so were squatting there for free) but were allowed to break every rule, put us in danger and ruin our weekend because no one was there to...
Read moreAbsolutely beautiful. We camped here for a few days and the camp hosts were fantastic. The campsites were spacious, well placed, and well maintained. This campsite has pit toilets. We did not see a dumpster for our trash so we did have to pack it out. We also did not find potable water so bring your own. Only about 10 minutes to downtown/Safeway. There is very light road noise at night and lots of cicadas/bug noises once the sun goes down. The stars are fantastic at night and the water sounds are lovely. The lower picnic area is not fantastic, but the upper one is absolutely wonderful and spacious with a covered area and close to the view of the gorgeous falls. The water is really cold for swimming but could definitely take a quick dip on a hot day to cool down, there's a small pool above the falls. Mosquitoes were surprisingly not too bad, we did have bug spray but...
Read moreIf you're a waterfall hunter and looking for waterfalls in the area, definitely check this one out. Walk around the area and you'll find a cute little bridge crossing over Mill Creek. The reason why I'm giving this a 3-star is because for a tiny park you have to pay just to see a decent size waterfall. There are other waterfalls in the area that doesn't cost anything and will offer better views. This isn't a state park as I should remind everyone, this is just a standard park. And all of the photos that I'm sharing are dated back in 2019 where I believe the park was free.
Plus it seems like when I try to go back this year (2023), it seems like the park is closed. There's no schedule for the hours of the park.
I feel like going to this park/waterfall is a hit or miss but if you are lucky to get to the falls without any hassle, you won't be...
