This easy hike is perfect for a short loop. We specifically came here to see the suspension cable Thoreau Bridge. It’s not far from the trail head if you turn right at the fork.

The bridge itself is stunning with beautiful details; wide enough for foot and bike traffic and sleek enough not to disturb the beauty of the woods. There are CNC cut letters creating messages in the aged corten steel handrails and a bench at the end. Great design worth the trip alone!

Once we crossed over and turned left up the trail we came across a babbling stream running through beautiful mushroom-shaped ice formations down the wall of the hill. We saw people walking a few hundred yards above us so we climbed the hill off trail to reach a heavy walked (yellow circle) trail that we thought might be the Appalachian path that eventually led...

Absolutely love this location. The Henry David Thoreau hanging bridge is pretty impressive and the perfect subject for fall foliage photography. The parking area is super close to the bridge, so you don't have to hike miles to see it. The rest of the trails are pretty flat and wide, for the most part, and easy to walk and navigate. The trail markings perfectly align with the maps and are easy to follow from one trail to another. We hiked to the abandoned quartz mine and were blown away by how much quartz was still in the area. Several other footbridges and man made staircases were helpful to see both sides of the river. There were some people along the trails but it was not overcrowded (during the week). I will definitely return to this location to do more hiking, to check out the lookouts and the...

This hike is a great way to get some exercise and enjoy the quiet and peaceful outdoors. There are many different trail options and every trail we traveled was well-maintained. Plus, there are plenty of places to rest along the way. A few highlights: The suspension bridge, just a few yards away from the entrance of the trail. It is a stunning piece of architechture. The quartz mine, took a bit to hike out there, but worth it. It was a beautiful site with quartz pieces all over the ground and a huge chunk of quartz lining the path. The pinnacle, our last stop on this hike. It was mostly an uphill hike from the quartz mine and, once at the top, has stunning views of the surrounding area.

I would definitely recommend this hike.

Note: There is no...
