I mean this is just a Google Review. I could tell you about it, the facts and what not, but as far as a personal recommendation, it's the best mile-plus long floating bridge over salt water that I've ever driven and walked on. This definitely isn't a tourist attraction. It's a state highway. One of the biggest inconveniences for the locals here is when the bridge closes down to land traffic it can cause huge back ups. When a naval submarine passes through they stop traffic early and don't allow anyone on the bridge causing a bigger delay. Then if by chance it's a holiday weekend and a submarine passes through backups can be as long as four miles. Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) does have a text alert system alerting you via text when the bridge closes to land transportation except for if it's a submarine. For security reasons they don't want to alert thousands of people that a nuclear submarine is going to be coming in, makes sense.

Also if you're wondering why im writing such a lengthy review for a bridge, it's because I'm trying to get a Google Local Guides achievement. So, yeah I hope this is 200+ words by now.

And now I close this my review to you....

Hey there 🤗 I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful sunshine ☀️✨ I am currently traveling from Port Angeles to Tacoma and need to make it by 6pm. DESPERATELY need to make it and I know I'm already cutting it close. I just received a call from a family friend informing me hood canal bridge is closed therefore I won't make Kingston or Bainbridge ⛴️ ferry boats, I also will not be able to get across to get through the Bremerton to Tacoma route. What options do I have? Drive all the way around, through quilcene and shelton and then hit I 5 through Olympia lacey? GPS says over 3 hrs for that route. Please tell me hood canal bridge will magically reopen within 30 min ?! 34 weeks pregnant having a hormonal meltdown of crazy emotions rn. Praying all goes well and I can stop crying over a stupid bridge closure lol. And/or alternate route which totally destroys my hopes and dreams (lol again, halfway kidding but real tears I'm crying. Pregnancy is a little bit of a...

If you live on the west side of the bridge it SUCKS trying to make the quick drive to Poulsbo or Silverdale or any where else since they open this bridge every day to let a bleeping sailboat go through making THOUSANDS of cars going BOTH directions sit and wait for an hour and it is even worse in the summer in the 90 degree heat......WE paid for this bridge BUT they let a clown with a sailboat call in and have the bridge opened for the damn boat and makes all those cars sit there waiting......ANYONE on this review that says this is GOOD are clowns that don't live here and probably just vacationer who also slow down the traffic here........make those sailboats stay at a marina on the north side of the damn...

This is an amazing spot for people to stop and take photos, it beautiful! The downfall for people who live here and work on the other side is that the bridge can open multiple times per day for recreational boaters. When this happens, which always seems to be during rush hour, it can back up traffic for two hours. I work 11 miles away, and it takes two hours to get home. But if you want an amazing picture with the water and a nice sunset in your picture, this is the place for you!

This has been one of my favorite bridges since I was a kid. The crazy storm that washed it out made national news of course... but that made it so decades later I could dive sections of that bridge at the SCUBA diving park in Edmonds. I have dove the west side of the bridge that is there now, walked the beaches, and watched marine traffic pass through. It is an engineering marvel. I have enjoyed rolling over that bridge for decades.
