I went there with my girlfriend since it was raining outside and not a good day to be on the beach. The building for the mermaid museum is in a separate building than the winery and restaurant. The fee for us was $6 per person but adults can tour the museum with a glass of wine for a bit more money. The museum presents historical information with z posted descriptions that share mythical information about mermaids and mermen along with facts about various actual sea creatures (fish, mammals, and shellfish). There are a few artistic presentations (artwork) by local artists along with figurines of mermaids and mermen. The gift shop is pretty extensive as it sells clothing (sweatshirts and tee shirts), toys (stuffed animals and mermaids), local consumables (alcoholic beverages, honey, and candy). The other building at that location had a tasting room for wines and a restaurant. The tasting room sells local wines, clothing, and other consumables (candy, pasta, chocolates, and nuts). We did have dinner there at the restaurant and the food was good but not...
Read moreWe went in expecting a cute tourist trap and came out genuinely impressed! This place is such a hidden gem. It blends mythology, marine science, local art, and pop culture into a surprisingly thoughtful experience. Yes, there are mermaid tails and glitter — but there’s also a lot of heart and history here.
You’ll find exhibits on mermaid legends from around the world, ocean conservation displays, and even interactive pieces (kids would love it, but so did we). There’s a section dedicated to Pacific Northwest maritime culture, and a quirky gift shop with everything from sea glass jewelry to mermaid wine glasses. 🐚
Bonus points: it’s located right next to a winery, and the ticket is super affordable — we even got in for free on Megalodon Day! (No idea what that means, but we’re not complaining.)
Perfect stop for families, ocean lovers, or anyone who likes a bit of magic mixed...
Read moreWow, so fun! The museum offers international Mermaid lore coupled with interesting ocean ecology. While there is a corner for The Little Mermaid, the museum content is geared toward adults as well as families.
We had an opportunity to meet and chat with Kim, a museum founder. Kim is a fabulously talented and prolific artist. Aside from curating the exhibits, she created the gorgeous and really interesting private labels found in the gift shop.
While the smallish museum is a trek from Seattle, we found it worth the drive. There's a winery 🍷 right next door with a fairly upscale restaurant. And there are things to do outside like horseshoes, bocce ball, and a giant chess game.
The community events sound absolutely fabulous! The first week of April 2023 extravaganza sounds amazing! Were I in the area, I'd be there for...
