I love this park on the lake!! I try to take my dog and best friend Ronian, to different parks often. This park isn't too far, and has great walking paths. It's not huge, but perfect for us. There is always a place to park, it has clean bathrooms, a playground, fishing on a dock, or from shore, a few picnic tables, a soccer field, I believe and maybe a baseball area....? If there isn't a baseball area I know there is plenty of room in the grass to have a game! Or volleyball if you have a net & ball. There are also a few spots by the lake to visit with friends, and one or two barbeque grates for cooking. Open area for kite flying on those windy days as well. Lots of trees, and not too many people most days. I've even seen people race their toy RC Boats on the lake. It looked like so much fun!! Really great small fishing lake & park. Not sure about how many fish they have, and I think row boats, blow up boats, non motorized boats are allowed. So check out this little diamond in the rough, we like its quiet, nature setting... Read moreThe park is surrounded by people who think they are privileged and call the cops on you when you walk the shoreline anywhere near their property line. It was, only my 2nd time going there, and I was scouting for a place to take my kid fishing on the Free Fishing Weekend. This is at PUBLIC park, for petes sake.
Washington needs to change its ownership laws and prevent real estate developers from encroaching on publicly owned recreational sites. It promotes elitist attitudes that just divide our communities and causes people to hate each other.
Additionally, there are people squatting in the park and the parking lot over night. That has spilled over into the land across the street which has signs saying it belongs to Federal Way Public Schools.
Right now, I can't recommend that anyone can use the park safely between about 6 PM and 9 am the following day unless the city goes in and clears...
Read moreBy way of local lake parks, this one is a bit lacking. There is a small set of restrooms, a small playground, a medium sized fishing dock which is crowded with sun-bathers in the summer, and a gravelly swim area that isn't very accommodating. A friend of mine recently cut himself on a broken bottle in the swim areas requiring stitches.
It is pretty, as the lake is unusually warm in the summer, and the swim area is fine if you want to launch inner tubes or other inflatables. There are some soccer fields, but they are flanked by private residence houses, so don't lose a ball or frisbee over the fence. There is also a large grassy open space and several paved trails that meander through the trees. Beware of the mole holes...
