This park is a slightly hidden gem in Lynnwood. We drove down 156th St. SW to get to the parking lot at the top of the ravine that comprises the bulk of the park. A well maintained path down through the ravine is an easy walk of about a mile to the beach. The path winds along Lunds Gulch creek that burbles along charmingly as you walk. There are several points along the route with benches where one can sit and enjoy the forest and creek or rest while on the way back up. The park is undergoing a significant improvement to its amenities with the construction at the lower end of the park. New restrooms and sheltered picnic areas are adjacent to a restored estuary environment. Picnic tables are scattered around the estuary and a path goes under a new railroad bridge for beach access. Handicap parking is available at the bottom of the park adjacent to the new restrooms for easy access to the beach. I saw people parking there but I did not see signs outside the park as to how to gain access to that parking spot. The beach is small but picturesque with views up and down the coast and across the Sound. Overall a very pleasurable park that is not too busy particularly on weekdays. The walk to the beach is an easy workout and for those who get tired on the way back up, there are those benches. A great place for a family outing and picnic with real lessons on the local environment and the salmon fry that use the estuary for protection.

The Carkeek of Edmonds! This is a great park for a short, if steeper, hike. Come supplied with everything you might need is you plan to do more than an in and out. Went to this on a beautiful warm spring day which meant it was packed. Parking lot was full, with a line of cars waiting for those leaving. The street parking for several blocks was overfull. They should really consider making the parking paid in the area with demand-based pricing. The park itself is lovely. The trail is in pretty good condition, with the exception of a few overly steep sections where on might skip on the gravel. The portapotty at the entrance was unusable. Overly full, unsanitary, with no toilet paper or sanitizer. The ones at the end of the trail were slightly better, with at least two not being over capacity, but pack your own sanitizer and toilet paper still. While a faucet was in evidence, it had no water. There was a great amount of wildlife, especially at the beach at low tide. The water was absolutely teeming with crabs, sand dollars, and more. We saw bald eagles, kingfisher, hummingbirds, and heard owls and loons. I highly recommend leaving just after sunset. It made the return trip wonderfully cool with lots of bat sightings.

This is a very nice neighborhood beach park in the area that I personally enjoy visiting and walking on the trail. It is short, only has brief hike section with stairs and uphill, and the trail is very well maintained. The area near the beach has a large open grassy area with shelters, and restrooms at the end. The only reason I am not giving a 5 star rating is the very limited parking space in comparison to the demand this park has. I personally think the playground area should be demolished and make room for more parking. The primary attraction/reason for this park is the trail and the beach at the end, the playground is just taking up room. There is always overflow and you need to park your car outside the park, in front of some residential area if you are lucky, or need to turn around. You will want to come early on the weekend to find yourself a spot, or be prepared to wait/turn around.

Really good park. Good scenery and makes you feel like you are on an adventure because of the verticality of the terrain. This path also refuses to be muddy even after heavy rain which is great. The trees are monolithic like an ancient jungle. This trail used to lead under a railroad to a beach and an open grass field but is closed off for what has been like 2 years because of environmental protection construction work. I was lucky enough to witness the entire trail including the beach and it is awesome. Many of the visitors come from the surrounding suburbs. A lot of old people come here, especially a lot of asian folk. I met a middle aged guy here who had the exact mannerisms of my Asian dad. The verticality is intense. The trip back is about as hard as running a mile sometimes.

One of our favorite local hikes! I would definitely suggest downloading a tide app if you want to make the most of planning your hike and beach time. During the summer months the tide will go out to ~ -2.0 - 3.0 feet which exposes a whole series of sandbars that you can walk along. The dogs and I will occasionally start at Picnic Point and hike down while the tide is still going out. Just make sure to give yourself plenty of time if attempting, I've seen several people have the tide start coming back in and sneak up on them. It does get super busy on weekends to I'd suggest going early, or parking in the neighborhood and hiking down as the parking lot can be a bit of a nightmare when it's packed.

Great place for an evening hike down to the water for sunset views. They close the parking lot gate 20 min after sunset. If you can’t hike back up within 20 min I highly recommend you park (legally) outside of the gated parking lot area or your vehicle will be locked inside of the parking lot. It’s never happened to me but they have a lot of signs stating this will happen at various points on your hike. This is also a good place when it snows to go sledding due to the big hills. The hike is easy going down but coming back up it’s a climb for some as it’s straight back up with stairs at one point. Beautiful trail with ample amount of space for passing others. My family of 4 really enjoys this trail.
