Moses Lake Mud Flats and Sand Dunes — Attraction in Washington

This place is large and can be fun for adults. It's not a very kid friendly place to ride and can be pretty dangerous. On the weekends it can get super packed and you can't even get around. If there are events going on, it can get so packed you can't even drive through the place. Injuries are pretty common here, so caution especially with young kids. Easy to get your vehicle stuck in the sand if your camping. In conclusion, can be a really fun place but we won't bring our kids back here. Alot of people who aren't paying attention and came pretty close to running my kids over (in our own camping area) and wrecking into our parked trailer. We LOVE Moses Lake Dunes. We make a trip out at least twice a year with the kids. They love the ability to ride the quads, and when it gets too hot, they can play in the lake. Family friendly. The trails are for all ranges of skill level for both quads and dirt bikes.

Be warned that if you're a tent user or light sleeper, this may not be your cup of tea. It can get super windy, the bees LOVE to assist with any food goods, and there is no curfew for riding at night, as long as you have all the required gear and lights.

Moses Lake Mudflats and Sand Dunes is an awesome spot for outdoor recreation. There’s plenty of open space to spread out, plus easy access to the lake and the Potholes Reservoir. The area is well-maintained with bathrooms and garbage receptacles conveniently placed throughout, which makes a big difference for longer visits.

If you’re planning to head off the main gravel road, definitely come prepared—4x4 and proper off-road tires are a must if you don’t want to get stuck.
