A beautiful tranquil place to visit. There are no trail markers nor anything that shows how to get there and you can definitely get turned around, due to the various trails going off in different directions trying to locate it. We did and in a mile or so off course from choosing the wrong trail, we ended up at Anderson Lake. We asked a couple who were on the trail and they said yeah when you first started, if you would have taken the first right then a left or the other way around you would have found it. Like I was going to remember that. So after heading back to the car from Anderson Lake, I told my wife hey let's just see where this trail goes, being it was getting late in the day I said we wouldn't go to far. Well it ended up being the correct tail. Like I said in the beginning, it's both a beautiful magnificent place. We were both amazed and wondered what had created the multiple holes and/or small caves all over the rock face. I'm really glad that I decided to try one more trail before leaving and it would have been a great disappointment had we not been able to find it. It was a beautiful way to end the day. I'm also glad that although it is a nationally known location that it's not an easy place to find. In Sept 2014 someone had defaced/damaged desecrated the The 43-million-year-old monolith with graffiti. It made national news and the Jamestown S’Klallam tribe offered a reward for the arrest of those involved. I can only hope that in the future, those who are able to locate it will treat it with the respect...

I see what others mean about the trails not being marked. We got lost a bit, but there is a small lot to park with a wood fence entrance and a sign. From there, head northwest whenever you come to a fork. At some point you'll cross over a small roadway, just cross and keep northwest. Lots of blackberry bushes to pick berries from in this area too. Once you get up to the rocks, there is a lot of different paths you can take to explore. Make sure you wear good shoes as some of them are very steep! Even with the directional challenge, I'm very glad we came here to explore. It was a very pleasant walk and lots of fun to explore, plus yummy...

Several large rocks - the site is sacred to the natives. May not be interesting to everyone, but if you are sensitive and open you may feel the energy of ancient traditional ceremonies held here. It is a nice short walk (10-15 min) in the wonderful trail through the woods from Tamanowas Rock Trailhead (4 parking spots). A slight ascent. There are several trails, and the one to the rocks is not marked. Use the map and the site's location to...

Tamanowas Rock—a sacred site that predates human memory. This trail leads to a place where the S’Klallam people and other Coast Salish tribes have gathered for thousands of years. It’s been a place for vision quests, spiritual ceremonies, and connection to the spirit world. I was given permission to film the trail—but not the rock itself—out of deep respect for its cultural and spiritual significance. Tamanowas means “spirit power” in the Klallam language, and that power is still felt today. This isn’t just history—it’s living culture. In the 1990s, when development threatened this land, the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, along with local partners, fought to protect it. Thanks to their efforts, this sacred space remains untouched. My script and this video were reviewed and approved in advance. I’m not telling this story because it’s mine—it isn’t. I’m telling it because it’s important that we recognize and honor the stories that shaped this land long before any of us got here. If you come here, come with respect. Honor the land. Learn the stories. Listen in silence. Some things aren’t meant to be captured—only experienced. 📍Support Indigenous sovereignty 📍Preserve sacred spaces 📍Protect what cannot be replaced #TamanowasRock #Sklallam #CoastSalish #IndigenousSacredSites #NativeHistory #PNWStories #SpiritualLandscapes #HonorTheLand #UncoverExploration #MinimalTravel #SacredPlaces #ProtectSacredSites #IndigenousHeritage #JamestownSKlallam #LandBack #ListenToTheLand #TikTokLearningCampaign #USHistory #RespectNativeLand @Discovery @National Geographic @Vivobarefoot @WANDRD
