A beautiful tranquil place to visit. There are no trail markers nor anything that shows how to get there and you can definitely get turned around, due to the various trails going off in different directions trying to locate it. We did and in a mile or so off course from choosing the wrong trail, we ended up at Anderson Lake. We asked a couple who were on the trail and they said yeah when you first started, if you would have taken the first right then a left or the other way around you would have found it. Like I was going to remember that. So after heading back to the car from Anderson Lake, I told my wife hey let's just see where this trail goes, being it was getting late in the day I said we wouldn't go to far. Well it ended up being the correct tail. Like I said in the beginning, it's both a beautiful magnificent place. We were both amazed and wondered what had created the multiple holes and/or small caves all over the rock face. I'm really glad that I decided to try one more trail before leaving and it would have been a great disappointment had we not been able to find it. It was a beautiful way to end the day. I'm also glad that although it is a nationally known location that it's not an easy place to find. In Sept 2014 someone had defaced/damaged desecrated the The 43-million-year-old monolith with graffiti. It made national news and the Jamestown S’Klallam tribe offered a reward for the arrest of those involved. I can only hope that in the future, those who are able to locate it will treat it with the respect...
Read moreI see what others mean about the trails not being marked. We got lost a bit, but there is a small lot to park with a wood fence entrance and a sign. From there, head northwest whenever you come to a fork. At some point you'll cross over a small roadway, just cross and keep northwest. Lots of blackberry bushes to pick berries from in this area too. Once you get up to the rocks, there is a lot of different paths you can take to explore. Make sure you wear good shoes as some of them are very steep! Even with the directional challenge, I'm very glad we came here to explore. It was a very pleasant walk and lots of fun to explore, plus yummy...
Read moreSeveral large rocks - the site is sacred to the natives. May not be interesting to everyone, but if you are sensitive and open you may feel the energy of ancient traditional ceremonies held here. It is a nice short walk (10-15 min) in the wonderful trail through the woods from Tamanowas Rock Trailhead (4 parking spots). A slight ascent. There are several trails, and the one to the rocks is not marked. Use the map and the site's location to...
