I recently had my wedding at Wooden Wheel Vineyards, and it is a beautiful venue. Everything looked beautiful on my wedding day. However, I would not give it 5 stars. Mostly because we paid to set up the day before, but the owners weren’t available to help us/answer our questions. When my husband tried to ask for help, he told that she was helping “paying customers.” He was told this twice before he finally said that he was paying a lot more than the other customers, and she finally figured out that he was the groom and apologized. Not only should you not treat the groom this way, especially when we’re paying to set up, you shouldn’t treat anybody this way who was here for our wedding. If we are paying to use the venue then I expect everyone with us to be treated kindly. Nobody treated me that way, because they knew I was the bride, but I heard that other people were. The day of our wedding, the groomsman went into the tasting room for a few minutes because my bridesmaids and I were taking pictures and we didn’t want to see each other before the ceremony. Apparently, the groomsmen and my husband were again told it was for paying customers only (as if we aren’t paying customers). Another reason why I wouldn’t give this venue 5 stars is because the owners simply didn’t go above and beyond. Usually a venue with alcohol provides complimentary champagne to the bride and groom. When I asked, I was told they wouldn’t provide it. This is fine, I guess, but if you want to receive a 5 star review I feel like you have to go above and beyond. Not only did Wooden Wheel not go above and beyond; they didn’t meet my expectations for how people a part of the wedding should be treated. I would not recommend to other brides if you are looking for a venue that treats your friends and...
Read moreThere were 6 of us on the 11th of November who stopped in to sample some of their wines. We knew or felt we were imposing upon entering as the lady behind the counter was very busy getting ready for a wedding. How we knew that was she asked if we were part of the wedding party, never once making eye contact, did ask where we were from. She wanted to know what she could do for us, and again, never smiling or even looking up. Once we indicated we wanted to sample wine, she very briskly told us there was a $5.00 charge per person and if we bought a wine than they would deduct that from the cost. Very reasonable, however, all of us were uncomfortable and said thanks, we can see you are busy and turned to leave. Some man came out of a room and made the comment " there is no free lunch" as we made our way out. That was not the reason we left, we left because we were treated very rudely. We came in when they were getting ready for a wedding. We will never go again and we will continue buying our wine from Hy-Vee in Washington and Fireside Winery outside of...
Read moreAttended a wedding reception here. Guests were attempting to help the hosts tear down tables, sweep floors, clean up, etc. and the owners were continuously being rude to guests who were trying to help, yelling at them for putting tables away incorrectly and such. Also, due to poor electrical, the DJ was unable to use any lights and when the A/C units kicked on it made everything flicker and caused interference with his sound system. Also, there were spider webs and spiders in basically every corner you turned (inside). Overall, beautiful place, rude owners,...
