Last year we had no problems, very nice and quiet place and bathrooms were clean. THIS YEAR WAS DIFFERENT! The bathrooms/shower building was filthy upon arrival from the weekend crowd and they didn't clean it until the next day even though the campground was virtually empty on the day we arrived. Trash can full and reeking badly, toilet paper on the floor and stuck to toilet seats, urine on toilet seats, muddy sinks and filthy counters... inexcusable!!! We were there Sunday-Thursday and it only got cleaned that one day on Monday. The ranger said the weekend crowd was terribly dirty, so why didn't they clean up after them on Sunday after people check out at noon? They checked it daily for supplies, but that was it. Sunday nite people left the door open due the smell, but that led to dozens of large flying beetles in the bathroom which you had to swat at while sitting on the toilet! It was horrible. Also, an open invitation for the resident bear! Also, this year the ranger did not keep the posts at each campsite up to date on upcoming reservations. If you arrive without a reservation, you are to pick one that does not have a tag showing reserved for any of the nites you plan to stay. Twice people by us picked sites that had no tags at all, so you would assume no one booked. Both times the people had to move the next day! The ranger failed both times to have posted the reservations. Not the campers fault and inexcusable. After spending 2 hours to set up a tent camp, if I had to take it all down and move and reset up I would have been livid! I don't think I would have done it and probably held my ground. Rangers, if you read this posting please update your site posts daily and keep the...

So my family went camping here and it was packed we went to get our envelope to pay as it was a first come first serve basis on the envelope it stated on the stub it does not secure your campsite we rolled into a campsite that had a camp chair so we moved the chair and set up camp a few hours later a camper approached us and stated that we were in his spot that he left a chair to secure it he called the rangers so here we are all set up no indication that he paid for the spot and the only claim he had to the spot was a chair so when the ranger finally arrived and spoke to us I asked him how many times do campers leave something like a chair behind he told me more often then no, his exact words and I asked him of the stub and the policy of it not securing a campsite (after we set up we did find a stub hidden under a rock, not posted on the camp marker where I guess it was suppose to be) after being there hours and the camper threatening violence against my family the rangers forced us to pack up and leave, regardless of their policy but I refused to move unless they found us another site as we had already paid so we ended up in the handicapped camping space as it was the only campsite left. The situation was ugly Ranger Andy was it's only redeeming quality.Thank you Andy for helping us in this situation my family appreciates you so much but we will not be returning if you have certain policies in place you should stick by them, we followed the rules. But if you threaten violence not only do you not get kicked out but you apparently...

Recently returned from a 3 day trip at Davis Creek Campground. It's a beautiful area and a great place for kids to ride their bikes. The sites are clean and the bear boxes are big. If you want to take a shower then bring a roll of quarters because it's about $1.00 for 3 min. The restrooms and showers are clean. The only thing that bothered me was the road noise and all the squirrels. They were a pain to deal with. You need a dog or another person to scare them off just to make a sandwich. I think people must feed them because they don't seem to be scared of people. I once had 7 taking turns trying to get to the food I was making. It might have been because the campground was fairly empty when we went. Put everything away in your bearbox if you leave the site...including your tablecloth. Squirrels will definitely investigate when you're away. I also noticed several climbing up underneath my car too. Hopefully they didn't damage anything in my engine. It was super hot when we were there. Bowers Mansion is a short drive down the road. There's an enormous pool where we cooled off for 2 day. There's a small entrance fee. Next time, I'd like to...

I caught my first fish here back in 1994, my daughter caught her first fish here in 2017 so in all honesty, the nostalgia this place offers me may bring a biased review. That being said, this place offers a small creek you can fish in most months of the year (keep an eye on restocking times and plan your trip accordingly as it can be fished out rather quickly). It also offers multiple grill sites and hiking trails that have amazing views and are the keys to the outdoors. When you reach the peaks, you get a great overlook of both the Washoe Valley lakes and Mount Rose. Located right between Carson and Reno, it offer the most convenient location for family gatherings and outdoor experiences. This is right down the way from Bowers Mansion so there are plenty of activities for everyone.

Long day driving 11 hours. Got in around 3am. Its beautiful here with all the trees. We are DEAD TIRED as we only got 3 hours sleep the night before. So glad to finally be able to park and catch up on our sleep!! Was relieved to FINALLY make it to our site. ULTIL we found OUR RESERVED site OCCUPIED.. Someone took our site even though MY name is CLEARLY posted! No Camp host anywhere. Bathrooms are Nasty. REEK of URINE. We HAD planned to stay on our return trip from Oregon. NOT ANY MORE! THANK GOD I DIDN'T MAKE A RESERVATION.! I better get a refund. We had to sleep in our car.. 2 adults and 3 children packed in a KIA Sole WITH camping equipment inside and no place to set up camp.

This is my contemplative spot. There are more trails than people realize. There is a trail around the lake. There is a trail covered in bush leading toward the highway. If you climb up the mountain, there is a trail with a view, where you are essentially on top of the mountain. Near the lake, if you follow the very faint trail past the restrooms (it's hidden), there is a rocky area with a slow flowing fall, with plenty of shade. This trail is my favorite. Few people seem to know about it. It's not a bad place to camp either. During the spring season, we bring nets and buckets. There are an abundance of tadpoles and it makes for a memorable experience with the kids.
