During low water in the summer, the island is connected to the mainland! Go all the way to the end of the Dike Trail in the wildlife refuge and scramble down and across the huge sandbar to the island. Even though I-84 and Corbett is just across the river, you do feel a sense of seclusion. Most of the island has a wooded shoreline with a huge meadow taking up most of the interior. Be super careful of the crumbling sand cliffs and lots of thorny blackberry bushes. Have fun!

Absolutely horrible! Do not go here! Unless you want be completely secluded, be forced to witness the abundant wildlife (Great Blue Herons, Bald Eagles, Golden Eagles, deer, otter, etc.), eat blackberries as you walk along the beach, and see more stars in the sky than you ever thought possible this close to civilization!

This place is a Bermuda Triangle of sandbars! Stay well away from this island and boat in the marked navigation channel! Lots of sand bars on the east end and north side! Pack a lunch! If you get stuck, you'll be waiting till the tide come back in!
