Hess-Hathaway Park — Attraction in Waterford Township

I’ve been coming to Hess - Hathaway Park since I was a child. My family reunions are hosted here yearly every August, as well as we rented the hall for my grandmothers 50th birthday and so much more. The staff are easy to work with and the park is great for children of all ages but I would like to comment on something else here at the park. The kindness rock garden. It is absolutely beautiful and so heartwarming to see in our community. They have a little library that is filled with information for those who need assistance, which is beneficial for those who struggle asking for help face to face. There are tons of rocks that have painted with animals, designs or simply just a kind reminder we all need to hear at times. You can take a rock or leave a rock. It is a great way for children, teenagers and even adults to participate in. Our world needs...

Hess-Hathaway is the perfect park for us! I really enjoy the fact that the play scape is completely fenced in. The playstructure is geared more towards 4-5 years and up, but I have seen several kids younger. There is a sandpit area that include toys to use in the sand. If it has just rained, it does collect some water so bring an extra pair of clothes. They have swings for all kids! In the summer there is a shaded area with some benches & picnic tables. After we play we usually hit up the farm area. It is well maintained. They have chickens, roosters, sheep, goats, horses, ducks, and rabbits. (That's all we saw while we were there.) Oh and a cat that roams around. By the rabbit cages there is a hand sanitizer machine if you need it, which is nice. They also have a restroom that can be used...

A staff member made my daughter cry. Horrible experience. Woman was rude and hurried my family out. Extremely uncalled for! Kids still talk about this awful experience. My mom no longer will take her group home residents there because of how she was treated. I don't know if this staff member was having a bad day or what, but forever lost my business and any support from my people. Sad, really. I did call and complain, as did 3 others. They did apologize but minimized and excused the actions of this staff member, which I felt was unconscionable. This is probably my only terrible review of a place and hopefully my last?
