Papoose Pond — Attraction in Waterford

I want to start off by saying that we did love this campground as they offer many activities for the kids, the campground was beautiful and very large as they have 2 separate areas (one is across the street), staff were very nice, they have a heated pool, and the beach was never over crowded during our stay. However, I called back in September 2021 to book for July 2022 and explained that I wanted a beach front where my kids could just walk outside to swim as carrying all the kids things to the beach, etc. is just not something I wanted to take on this year. It is a lot of work and I was willing to pay extra for a great beach front spot so that the adults could actually just relax at the site for once. They told me they had a beach front where my kids could just walk out to swim so not only was I over joyed but I paid extra money to lock this site in. We showed up and were placed at site BS16 (I believe that was the number) and yes, it was a water front BUT it was not a beach front. There is only a tiny section of sand and the rest of the area was filled with freshwater mussels that hurt my kids feet, it was filled with weeds and people were fishing at our site. So I did not want my kids being in the water where fishing hooks were. The beach where everyone goes to was just a site over so the walk with all our stuff was not terrible but that was not what I was expecting and paid for. I would have never locked that site in if I had known it was not a beach front. I hate to sound ungrateful but this was our longest week camping trip that we planned this summer as we book several smaller trips through out the summer so it was a bit of a bummer. I wanted to write a review so that if another family books this site they know what they are walking into. I went on a trip with my buddy here. I loved it! So many fun things to do. However, the last night we were there we were playing man hunt at around 11. I placed my airpods and wallet on the basketball bench and ran off to play manhunt. When we returned my airpods and wallet were gone. We ended up finding the wallet with all the money taken out of it. However, no sign of the airpods. I was very bumbed out. We ended up leaving the next morning. When I arrived home I emailed the campground asking them to look out for my airpods. (They were supper expensive). I just got an email back today that they have found them! I live in NH so I can't come back up and get them. But they said they would ship them out. I am very greatful. 100% going...

I'm 60...my dad took us to Papoose when I was a kid...1970s! We have brought our 4 kids here same week every year since 1991 30 years! Now our kids bring their families here, still same week.
