Hays Park — Attraction in Watervliet

The city had done such a great job making this park enjoyable and functional. The Watervliet rocks club has been hiding rocks down the trails, so it's so much fun to take the kids or young at heart on a hunt for treasures to rehide. They recently added a pavilion with seating right by the playground, and you can use the ball fields when they aren't in use for rec ball games. There's a skate park and basketball courts, and you can fish the river from one of the floating decks. The park has several locations for picnics and they even have a disc golf course you can play. Great off-leash dog park: interesting terrain & lots of trees & shrubs for dogs to examine. This is the best in the area for letting dogs run free.

There are plenty of shade & sunny spots; & benches for people.

There is no play equipment for the dogs.

Veryin clean, so kudos to owners for that. Bags provided. There is a drinking fountain with dog bowl outside the fenced area, but not functional when we were there.
