It was the attention to detail that did it for me at Wilgus State Park. This campground offers cabins, lean-to's and tent sites, some with water and electricity. The day use areas can accommodate small and large parties. Other than the impeccable cleanliness of the cabins, sites and bathrooms, a lot of attention went into the planters and perennial beds scattered throughout the campground. There's a scenic trail that travels the distance of the entire camp, adjacent to the glistening Connecticut river, with benches every couple hundred feet. The horse show pits were suprisingly busy. The camp also has a full volleyball court. The rehabilitated trails at both ends of the camp, is a neat ammenity. It made for daily exercise for us and the dogs. The key pads for the cabins should be streamlined at all parks and is a great security feature and allowed for peace of mind, not having to keep track of a key. The ranger and his staff were all so kind and accommodating and allowed gentle use of the honor system to grab ice and wood when the office was closed. The wood was covered and never moist. There were even wood chips and kindling set aside for campers use, at no extra cost. Every pamflet reciprocal was full. If you're planning to visit, bring a book to swap at their library. 5 stars all day.

This was the first place my wife and I ever camped in Vermont over 10 yrs ago and when we had to change our plans all of a sudden this year Wilgus State Park is our goto. 15mins from Walmart and Groceries, 4 mins from Dunkins, 10 mins from a laundry mat, right on the conneticut river. We never stayed at site 8 before usually go for the lean-tos, but at last minute we got site 8 right next to the water it was shady but our tp tent worked great and we stayed dry for the 2 days it rained outta the 7 we stayed, we had friends visit us that we hadnt seen since b4 covid, so this place has just been so special to us TYSM , The staff are all friendly the bathrooms with coin op showers is clean drinking water is free at 2 different spouts, and you get alot of wood for the price and it burns 2-3hrs a log which is nice, the store has sweatshirts bandanas tshirts and water bottles that procedes go back into the park . We cant say enough good when it comes to Wilgus State park you should plan a trip to stay and make your own opinion then add to my reviews

Nice, simple, quiet state park. They keep it beautifully maintained, and the Ranger and volunteers are very friendly. We've been camping at a primitive site; not sure if there is water and electricity on some sites but that info would be available on the website. There are restrooms with flushing toilets, running water, and quarter showers. They also do canoe/kayak rentals but we brought our own. Reservations were easy to do Online, and when I needed to change last minute, they promptly returned my phone call. I recommend Wilgus if you're looking for an old school camping experience. The sunsets and sunrise on the river are to die for!

Crystal, Eric, and Doug, the park rangers, go above and beyond for the park and the people who stay there. Anything we needed, they found a way to help - even in planning our errands.

We stayed multiple nights and were treated like family. It was the perfect place to relax by the river with my family. We found the cabin to be affordable with a gorgeous view of the Connecticut river from our front door. The park was beautiful and had everything we needed.

They sell firewood there and you are not far from hot coffee, gas, and snacks. The cabins, bathrooms, and park, itself, were very clean.

The WiFi worked well enough for me to do a work call with video and many people on it. I recommend doing anything that needs a reliable connection near the ranger booth.

Please visit and take care of these humans and this park. You will have an...
