First off… beautiful falls tumbling down through this chute into a nice little swimming hole. Ample parking along HWY 281 just south of Wolf Creek Baptist Church. Any of the trails from the parking spot take you downhill, but note that if you start to cross the hill and come to some stairs down to a very tiny waterfall, you’ve gone the wrong way. Make sure you are heading downhill at varying grade levels, and cross over the Wolf Creek. Continue on the trail on the other side of Wolf Creek up and over the ridge until you come to it…. …The descent everyone talks about into the gorge below the falls. You’ll see ropes, but there are a lot of roots, trees, and rocks to grab onto. My trekking poles came in handy too both up and down. At the bottom you will see these beautiful falls cascading down the chute into the swimming hole. There was only one person there with a hammock strung up in the early Saturday morning daylight, and I passed 3 fishermen on their way back up the hill. Later in the morning I passed by the parking area, and it was filled with vehicles and people were parking down the road. Glad I went when I did. Knocked a star off, because… there was trash all over the trail. Everything from cans to dog poop...

But the decent down is very, very steep. It is a dangerous area. They have two ropes for assistance after you get a third of the way down and you need to hold them ropes to get down because that's how steep it is. You won't make it down without using the ropes. And there's one part that is a 4' drop straight down and it's where the rope and mud starts so you definitely need that rope otherwise you're not making it down. Up is not so bad because you're using the rope to help you climb up until you get to that 4 foot straight up spot. And that can be a little difficult for some people to pull themselves straight up that high. But the falls are fantastic and there were about 12 very young adults who went down there swimming and jumping off the rocks that were about 12 feet up. They also have a rope on the other side of the river that you can get up to jump off the rocks that's about 25 feet high. It was great to explore the area though. You can go to the top of the falls too. Just be very careful! It is a long straight fall down from the top if you...
Read moreThis trail is short, but very intense. If you like climbing rock walls, you will love this. It is NOT kid friendly, you MUST be in decent physical shape. It is a really awesome, rewarding hike. It is a near-vertical drop, you have to hang on to roots and rocks to get down
The trail starts at the parking lot. It is a gravel lot, can hold about 15 cars. It immediately descents from the lot, straight down for a minute, then pretty easy for a while. You will cross a river, by walking over rocks. This part can be a little challenging, but very cool part of the trail. Then, you will hike up a hill, at which point you will see a thousand foot 80 degree drop. It looks like it is almost straight down. You may have to go down backwards, like I did, while hanging on to roots and rocks. It was very very muddy. You could easily slip and fall to your death if you aren’t cautious. Once you are down there, it is a breath taking, deep swimming hole with a beautiful waterfall flowing into the...
