One of the best trails in the “Greater St. Louis” area. Beautiful land with plenty of variety in the terrain. You should expect to encounter mud most days but normally not too bad, the water/moisture/mud does stick around well after rain but don’t let that stop you. This hike will provide some considerable elevation gain totaling over 600ft affording beautiful views of our beloved Missouri River and the incredible Katy Trail down below running along the river valley. While this hike can be completed in “street” shoes, a more sturdy hiking shoe will perform far better and safer.

Get out there and enjoy this beautiful area of Missouri on this decently marked trail with options to shorten or lengthen to...

It is very, very long, and the trail is wide enough that you don’t have to worry about running into a spider web or anything like that (which is a very real concern on other trails). It is mostly shaded because you are covered by trees most of the time. It also has fun little informative placards placed in certain areas throughout the trail talking about the history of the trail and the tribes that lived in the area. You can find so many beautiful little areas, ponds, clearings and trees. One of our favorites that's close to st Louis and doesn't require a long drive to get to. Even though the parking lot sometimes looks very busy, we often don't see too many other people on the trail. There are a few benches along the way that make for great places to stop and have a snack or lunch. I think this trail would be great for trail running, too. The trail is well maintained and wide enough in most places that we don't usually get ticks here (but I still...
