I'm not really a beach guy, but this place isn't so bad. The beach itself is pretty sandy, though there are some rocky patches, so watershoes aren't the worst idea. It's the beach, there are no trees, bring sunscreen and sunshades if you have them. This beach is on the ocean side of the cape, so it gets windy, be wary of your sunshade taking flight. Most days the water looks super inviting, but is usually on the cold side (unless you're used to the cape, in which case it's warm). There are bathrooms here, I've not used them so I don't know what they're like. Sometimes there's a ice cream truck in the parking lot. The lot is rapidly shrinking due to erosion of the dunes, so parking is at a premium. You need a pass/sticker to use the lot, which you can only get if you're a resident of Wellfleet or if you're renting a house for a week in town. It's possible to get permits to have a fire on the beach after sundown. ProTip: make sure you buy sticks to roast marshmallows, cause you ain't finding any at the beach. ProTip #2: If you can't get a permit, you can try scanning the beach for folks that have young kids. They usually aren't going to make it all night, so you may be able to score a...

There were some serious waves with serious undertoe. Was very difficult to get back on my bike. Stop by and pick up a great lunch at the food truck. Great tacos and other items, stop by and...

Harbor seals hunt and sport in the surf, while the growl of the tide and the constant breeze remind you that you are in a fundamentally wild place. But on a clear day, the stark beauty of the Atlantic will...
