Wellington Reservation — Attraction in Wellington

Honestly don’t know where to begin… first of all, the older guy working there (didn’t get his name) wasn’t super friendly. He sort of yelled at me when I got there because I accidentally made my reservation for the wrong day. Their website crashed on me at least 12 times and wasn’t easy to navigate. I also followed the directions on the receipt which weren’t correct so I was 30 minutes late. I asked the older worker if we could have some extra time and he was really sassy. He made me feel stupid for accidentally making my reservation for the wrong day so I explained to him the problems I faced and he didn’t seem to care. The younger guy working there was super friendly and thought it was kind of funny so he still let us go out in the water. The older guy working redeemed himself a little (not much though) while trying to get my friend and I back on the dock. He was joking around with us and was just in an overall better mood. I love all of Lorain County Metro Parks! But, This location is my favorite! The lower Wellington reservation allows you to borrow a paddle boat on certain days, for no cost! There's a small play ground area for children, plenty of fishing spots, they have an observation deck on the top floor of the building to take in all of the amazing water sites! There's a decent sized walking trail and plenty of parking. There are also several pull off sites to park along the reservation that are perfect for bass fishing or even a catfish set up. The larger reservour is located across the street. There they have a boat ramp and tons of fishing! Last time we were there we saw a swan! Beautiful reservation. Main short lake loop and long lake loop is asphalt. The back loop is ground gravel. Was not even mushy after full day of rain day prior. I found seed pods of some wild flowers I’ve not found in many many other trails I’ve been on. 1st time I’ve found wild pussywillows. I took some seed pods for my natural wildflower garden. You can tell the fields were full of wildflowers I can’t wait to come back in spring and summer to see They have a boat launch a temporary dock & a canoe/kayak launch. Fishing, I’m not sure about.
