D.F. Buchmiller County Park is one of the most beautiful little parks I've seen. It's across the road from the golf course that abuts Lancaster County Park, which is also a great place to spend a few hours but is much larger. Buchmiller has rolling hills, tons of trees, and contains a frisbee golf course. I've never played frisbee there, but I have taken my dogs there lots of times. Technically, dogs are required to be on a leash there, but I rarely leash them unless I temporarily have to. If you want the run of the place, get there in the early morning before the frisbee players get there. You will have the whole place to yourself. Also, there are several trails down through the woods that run alongside the creek to the west. They lead to an old rail trail that was called The Lancaster-Quarryville line when it was operational. Now, all you can see are the ties here and there that have mostly sunk into the ground. There are some gorgeous little areas by the creek. There's a tiny beach made of millions of seashells next to a place where there was once a bridge, but now there's only the concrete bases. You could spend hours just at this charming area, eating lunch, contemplating reality, or just throwing sticks into the water for your dogs to retrieve. Do you geocache? There's a bunch down by the creek. The only issue I would caution you about are the guys sitting in their cars. Like other parks around here, there's a bit of shady activity going on near the public restrooms if you catch my drift. I had a guy in a truck following and scoping me out one...
Read moreWe recently took up disc golfing. We have a great time but aren't very good. We purchased a beginner set of discs for $27.00 and so far all courses have been free to play. The course is shorter than the one at Overlook but longer than the one at Smoke town community park. The course covers approximately two miles and has hills and dales. There are also some thorny patches that I recommend you avoid(I know from personal experience). The course is really nice but could use a little extra signage. We stumbled on hole 1 by accident, did not find holes 9&10 until we went searching once we had finished our game and a kind golfer showed us where hole 16 was located. The remainder of the course is easy to follow however the par score is not listed on the signs as we have seen in other parks. We are just starting so this isn't an issue for us but might be for some. We later found an online map of the course and a score card with pars which we recommend looking at...
Read moreI really like this part of Lancaster County park. The grounds are well kept, frisbee golf is great and maintained. Unfortunately, every visit, without fail, there is someone or something inappropriate. I like this frisbee golf course which is the reason I visit this park. Just walking the course, I have encountered sexual activity in cars and pavilions, blatant drug use in cars and pavilions and unusual people (which can't be faulted to the park). I have always visited mid afternoon. I do appreciate the clean and open restroom facilities. Anytime that I have encountered park staff the interaction has been friendly and...
