The Monksville Reservoir is one of our favorite places to visit in the summer for kayaking, fishing, and picnicking. The water keeps you cool and there’s plenty of different looking areas around the water you can explore. You can bring your own craft or rent one from Flatwater Paddle Co for a very reasonable price but you will probably need to make a reservation in advance. I suggest you wear something to protect your head and water socks to protect your feet because you’ll be getting a lot of sun and the ground can be a little rough getting in and out of your kayak!

What a wonderful trail. It was about a 3 mile hike. Relatively easy but as with any hike there were some challenges and obstacles. At the time that we took the hike leaves had fallen all over the ground, which made it hard to determine what exactly we are stepping on or into. I would recommend bringing a hiking stick. It was fairly moderate when going up the hill but once you did there was a beautiful view of the reservoir. With a bonus of a temporary shelter that I'm guessing someone built themselves. which makes for a great resting and picnic spot.

Great for Kayaking, hiking, and fishing. Beautiful lake with excellent views. We put in at the south boat ramp. Very clean porta potties at both North and south boat launches. Water is very clear for a lake about 4' visibility. Wear shoes or hard sole water shoes for loading and unloading as the parking area is gravel. Beautiful color in the fall. Lots of wild life. Hike with caution as they're northern back rattlesnakes and copperheads. Kayaking the full lake takes 3hours at a very slow pace or 2 hours at a steady pace. Is #3 on our top 10 list.
