I cannot say enough about this beautiful place. It's so peaceful and rejuvenating. Im so glad we found this magical spot in the world! The food is awesome because it changes. Ginger is the absolute best hostess and makes you feel like family from the moment you arrive. The Bison Meat Pies are always on the menu and I get them every time. I love that the food is a new experience every time you visit and has always been GOOD! The Sangria is just the right balance of fruit and white wine. In the past we have done the flight of wine and Ginger makes it a rich experience as she walks you through each flavor profile with her knowledge and explanation of each sample. It was the best wine tasting we have ever had. I have brought my Aunt and Uncle here and just took my mother for her birthday. This place is special and I will continue to share it with the...

Absolutely atrocious service with racism mixed in! Sat and waited at a table waiting for my wife with my two toddler boys, who were surprisingly well behaved that day. No one ever came up to me even though there were several other (white) patrons sitting around me. Probably sat there with my boys for about 15 minutes entertaining my boys the best I could, and someone finally comes up to me and tells me that I can’t play with my boys. I said excuse me?? She said that she is worried about their safety because I had one of them on my shoulder. If you are a parent, you know how to place a toddler on your shoulder and prevent falls. I questioned her, so I can’t play with my children?? Are we just supposed to sit here in silence and be ignored until my wife shows up?? I kindly grabbed our stuff and walked out of there with my boys in...

I can’t believe I haven’t put a review in sooner given how many times I’ve been here. Mattapony Reserve is my absolute favorite spot in VA. Owned by Chief Lonnie Custalow and his wife Ginger, it is a Native American owned business along the Mattaponi River. They make amazing, sulfate, additive and preservative free wine and some of the most amazing homemade food you will ever have. I have not had one thing here, wine or food, that I wouldn’t eat again! You can tell the love that goes into everything produced here. They are also some of the kindest people you will meet and the atmosphere is just top tier. If you’re lucky you’ll be able to spot bald eagles across the river. If you find yourself in West Point or near the Mattaponi Reservation, or even if you have to trek to get here I could not...

This is a lovely venue. The owners were really nice and welcoming. My party of 12 was very disappointed. We made reservations a week ago. We were there and ready at 12: noon which was the time of our reservation. We had to wait awaile before we could order. Ginger said she had been up cooking since 6AM. We ordered our food and it took a very long time before we got our food. There was still 2 in our party at 1:30 that had not gotten their order. The chili, pies and corn bread was really tasty but hardly Luke warm and the price for 1 bowl, 2 mini pies & 1 bottle of wine was way too pricey. The tasting, you barely got a tablespoon of wine in your glass. I really hate writing a poor review. I must say that we all had a good time as friend's, but I don't think I could talk them into going back.
