My husband and I visited this weekend. I'm not really an out and about person, but my partner is,and we both enjoy learning and history. I was delighted to find out we live only a couple miles away from this treasure trove of artifacts and information! The gentleman tending the desk was friendly and knowledgeable. The cost of admission is honestly on the low end of reasonable.The time and care spent putting these exhibits together is obvious and glorious. The lighting is adequate for the exhibits but not overstimulating, when we went it was pleasantly quiet which was also conducive to learning for me. Even though it's a small building plan to take your time and possibly even go back because as my husband and I were talking about the coolest things we saw and learned on the way home, we were basically sharing new information with each other...that's how much there is to take in, guys! Even though admission is low I recommend taking some extra money to burn on pottery and jewelry. I didn't this time but trust me...next...
Read moreI learned a lot! I loved learning the history, art, physics, culture and geography! It was terrific seeing the scientific tests and recreations of ancient ways of doing things. Interesting to see the first hand historical accounts and drawings from the 1600s. The stone cutting display was super interesting and educational. Some of the signs in the display could be refreshed but it was still a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
The gift shop was very reasonably priced and had an interesting variety of local crafts.
The place is small so if you are a walk and browse person, it would be a quick visit. If you are a read and examine person you could spend a few hours.
The original schoolhouse is next door, you can walk around it.
