Volga River offers many opportunities for outdoor recreation. We spent several nights at the campground (very nice and modern; see separate reviews), and spent the days hiking the multi-use trails. We saw a number of individuals fishing at the beautiful lake.
The trails are wide to accommodate multi-use (hiking, bikes, equestrian, and snow mobile). Most of the trails are pretty easy with sections of inclines due to the hills in the area. Read moreI used to absolutely love this place, today I have found out what their customer service is like TERRIBLE!! I prepaid for an equestrian campsite, and low and behold bad weather (which no one has control over) But now the horse trails are closed.......So a place I paid for I cannot use, out of 38.00 they will only refund me 12.00 that is not even the cost of 1 night of camping there. They allow the non-reservable sites to be "reserved" or paid for without the person renting it to put up a tent or pull in a trailer--so when you get there, the sites look like they are available. It would be very helpful if the non-reservable sites were shown as taken and for how long. Best recommendation is to reserve a site. The DNR staff on site are very helpful. It would be great if the equestrian campground was bigger--they would...
