A really nice preserve if you are looking for a longer hike! Plenty of parking. We completed most of the yellow loop and the red trail to “Opalanie Park, West Vincent Township” and we walked just under 6 miles. There is another mile loop at the Opalanie Park, thought we did not do that. The last stretch of the red trail getting to the park changes in elevation a few times and I had to stop briefly to catch my breath. A small section of the yellow loop is closed so you have to take the grey trail to avoid the closed off section. I’m giving the Bryn Coed Preserve 4 stars (though it’s more like a 4.5) because it was not as visually appealing as nearby Natural Lands' Binky Lee Preserve & Natural Lands' Stroud Preserve. But it’s still a beautiful preserve a perfect if you want to hike more...
Read moreAmazing place for lots of sun, especially continuous sun in the fall/winter/spring. We went in spring and there were tons of wildflowers, especially end of April, which was really fun to walk through and see. The wide open fields also gave us some much needed sun time after winter, and we had some small breaks within the trees. We did all trails besides the purely gray ones within 3 hours, and we walked fairly quickly. There is good scenery change especially on the end of the red trail if you start at the main parking area, the end of the red is actual hiking through the woods and a little more strenuous during the rest (still moderate). I would say most of this is just a breezy walk through nature, some small hills and a little more steep just...
Read moreThe trails are not really trails. Just signs posted in the fields telling you where to go. At least that is the case for the yellow trail. The red trail might be better as it goes into the woods at some point. But the yellow trail was not fun. A swamp. Nearly had my boot sucked off. You can't really go where the signs point because you will be busy avoiding the muck and water and seeking higher ground. I think they will improve things over time as it is a brand new park. Either re-routing trails or adding a lot of gravel would help. These are old farm fields and walking the perimeter of the fields seems instinctively like where you would want to walk but after a rain these areas often collect water off of the fields and...
