Absolutely stunning view! Friends invited us along for their spring break. Stayed in the Overlook Cabin. Couldn't ask for a better view! ||||Pros: BEAUTIFUL views! Adequate kitchen, endless hot water (I'm guessing they have an "on-demand" tank less system as with 4 adults and 2 kids we never ran out of hot water (YAAY!) Fire pit perfect for roasting marshmallow's. ||||Cons: Absolutely NO internet/cell service if you have Verizon and limited ATT service (2 of the 3 ATT subscribers had service) VERY steep stairs (treacherous for the young and old) No screened doors (found that a lot of flies were getting in) thin walls (though might have more to do with no carpeting than the walls) and super firm beds/pillows. I found the mattress wasn't that bad but combined with the firm pillow my neck tended to be stiff in the morning. Also wish there were some kind of sun shade on 2 sets of windows in the living area. We found ourselves blinded during sunset on a chilly windy day. ||||Tips: If you don't like a firm pillow, bring one with you (It's not unbearable but might make you stiff depending on your situation). Only 1 towel is provided per person so if you need more than 1, bring some extra. There are logs around the fire pit but if you plan on sitting out there for some time, you might want to bring camp chairs. Small baby gate is provided for the stairs but it might not be high enough for some children. If someone in your party goes to bed early, you might want to bring them ear plugs. There are no rugs in the cottage what so ever so noise travels easily.||||Overall: Cottage was quaint. Basically furnished and adequate kitchen. Close to Seneca Rocks State Park, Not too far from The Dolly Sods Wilderness Area and just a short drive to local town's for necessities. My favorite place was the porch without a doubt! Great place to un-plug and relax! We really did like it there and will DEF be back! Pricing was great! ||||Our only real requests to the owners would be 1- please either install wifi or add a landline in case of emergency since the cell service is spotty. We had a special needs child with us and while we were sure we would be ok, having that extra peace of mind would be nice. 2- PLEASE consider adding area rugs. Not having anything to muffle the upstairs from the bedrooms made bedtime for the little ones challenging. 3- please consider adding some sun shades to the 2 western most windows that overlook the valley. Would make sunsets a little easier when you have to be inside. and lastly Screened doors would be a nice add. We had great temperatures in the evening while cooking dinner, would have been a nice addition to leave the doors open too.||||Thank you for building such a neat place! We felt truly blessed to be able to stay in such...
Read moreThese cabins are awesome!! Beautiful, relaxing, serene. So much peace. My friends and I traveled from WI, on our motorcycles. The driveway to cabins 1-3 is not for the faint of heart on Harleys, mixed with those afraid of heights/gravel. Suffice to say all of us gals made it without any issues(besides fear in a couple). Enjoyed watching the sunrise, sunset and moonrise over the mountains. Highly recommend if you're looking for quiet without being connected to the world via smartphones and computers. Carried an AT&T cheap tracphone(flip) for emergencies only.||Once we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised we had wood already placed and available for use in the evening, this was a relief considering rode vs drove in. I'd love to go back again in the future. Be sure to visit Spruce Knob, Seneca Rocks, Green Bank and Blackwater Falls.| Stop in Elkins@ the grocery store before you go up, to pick up needed essentials. The only thing I found lacking was closed captions on the television for deaf/HoH visitors. Two of us fit that category. Watching the weather is important in the mountains, captions would...
Read moreI found these cabins while searching for a nice place to stay. Eastern West Virginia does not have the standard hotels. We've stayed other places and have been disappointed. When we arrived and began descending the gravel drive, my husband was wondering what exactly I had gotten us into. As we rounded the corner, the views were stunning!!!!!||Let me say... you will be unplugged here! Expect it and enjoy it. We bought a cheap Tracfone at the Dollar General in Franklin for emergency use. Other than that, there is no landlines or wifi. It was perfect!! There is a TV, but who needs it when you have such stunning views.||We spent all our time on the porch watching the sunrise and sunset. Built a fire in the firepit and stargazed st night. The Milky Way was so bright!! We were also entertained by the many birds and the cattle in the pasture.||Are the beds a bit hard? Yes. However, it was no worse than many hotel beds. Everything else far outweighed it. We'll...
