I have lived in the area for almost 5 years yet I have never went to the Mystery Hole because I wanted to share it with my friends from Morgantown. While my friend was visiting yesterday, we had a stop here on our daily plan of adventuring. However, we got held up in Fayetteville and knew that we wouldn't make the 530 closing time. So, we decided to just stop and take some pictures and hopefully tour next time.
When we pulled into the parking lot, as we were exiting the vehicle, we heard one of the owners/employees angerily pulling out of the parking lot, yelling to another owner/employee, "they've been coming all "fuc*" day!" Im glad that my two young children were not in the vehicle to hear such bad language and business practice. My thought is that if you don't want tourists to come to your establishment, then don't be open...but that kind of defeats the point of being a tourist attraction. In my opinion, you should be open later on Fri and Sat's anyway. Even after this bad initial impression, we were still heartset on snapping a few pictures.
As we were crossing the second car parking lot to get a glimpse of the beautiful cliff view, we heard the second owner/employee rudely yell, "you're trespassing, you need to get back across the rope." Before we could even kindly explain that we were just trying to take a picture, he yelled again and threatened to call the law.
This is extremely disappointing because I had many friends and familiy members that had intentions of touring The Mystery Hole upon visiting me. I will never take them or recommend this business to anyone. I will live here for the rest of my life and save my $7. My children will never step foot in this establishment.
How are you going to own a unique tourist attraction, that I've seen on many "top ten things to do in wv" lists and treat customers/potential customers like this. Aren't you happy to be making money and being successful? Isn't that the point? If you continue to use vulgar language in regards to business and are as rude, soon you will be cursing that your parking lot is...
Read moreI had wanted to go ever since I moved up here and saw it.. It looks so cool!!.. Well I finally got to go after 11 years lol and I brought my baby and my cousin and my friend.. (Baby is 5 years old) and they make it seem like its going to be scary.. So it made her cry lol.. But by the end of the tour she was so super excited and has been begging to go back ever since!! Everyone there was super friendly!! There's a guy there that holds the door open for you.. Whether youre going in or out.. I read all the reviews on here and just wanted to clarify a few things... The man holding the door isn't rushing you out.. He's being polite.. They have a single rule.. No phones or cameras.. That is there to protect their mystery... And I'm really sorry the people felt that they couldnt abide by that rule and left.. They missed out... Also.. Bc of the way the "gravity" is offset and the nature of some of the lights.. It wouldnt be best to bring your baby.. The baby would end up getting hurt.. That was in yours and the babys best interest and I would hope you would try again when the baby is older bc it really is a neat place... And also.. When a business is closed and has ropes across the parking lot that say closed .. No trespassing.. And you cross that rope.. You are breaking the law!! When asked to leave and you start arguing.. The man has every right to tell you to get off his property or he's calling the cops.. Thats just how it works lol.. Anyways... Hope my review helped.. It really is an amazing little place and the views are to die for!!...
Read moreThe owner was so rude to me. I was waiting inside with my 1 year old and my seven years old son. My husband was on the tour with our other kids. I was invited inside by one of the staff member because it started raining. There are toys for sell inside and my son and I were entertaining the baby with some of the toys (I was exited to look around and buy some for our 5 children as souvenir). When the baby started to cry because I wouldn't let her touch everything, the owner yelled at me, said it wasn't a Walmart and that me and the kids should wait in our car. It took me 10 seconds to pick up the bubble tubes that was on the floor and left. Here I am outside, in the rain, reading the reviews of this place. I wasn't surprised to read the bad experiences others had with this man. He obviously dislikes children and doesn't want to be bothered or accommodate anyone with disabilities. His staff looked so scared of him. While my husband was inside and had no idea about what was going on, one of the staff member did compliment my husband on the behavior of our older kids. Thinking back it's probably a sign that they don't like kids acting like kids on the tour. We left after my husband yelled at the owner for kicking me out, we got my ticket reimbursed and didn't buy any toys. According to the kids the place is just a tilted room with a lame decor. They could of make it fun and a good experience for us but they did...
