Read moreSo I have loved coming to this park for the last 6 years since my son was a little baby. I have ALWAYS brought my little dog. Tell me why, after years of coming to this park with my little dog and my son, did a worker come up to me telling me to take my dog outside the huge fence that wraps around the playground??? No, I’m not doing that, because I’m a single mom who has to watch her kid. I’m not going to be so far away that if someone abducts my kid or my kid gets hurt playing on the playground, that there’s nothing I can do. I am infuriated that after more than half a decade, I’m being chastised for taking my tiny dog here to the playground and keeping her leashed on the side while I watch my son play. Really??? There’s people around here graffitiing the place, killing the ducks and there was even a dead person found in the woods here. But I’m doing something so wrong for having my dog at the playground on the side , leashed. Way to make it even harder for a single mom to enjoy the park...
Read moreWhat a beautiful park! They have huge open fields where you can throw a ball with friends, a Rose garden if looking for a romantic stroll, a section that feels like an Asian escape with gorgeous established trees and flower beds and a memorial walk dedicated to those who fought for us. There are multiple playgrounds for the kids and follow the path down from the large parking lots to the duck pond where you can buy feed for the geese and ducks. Host an intimate wedding in the rose garden or rent the new pavilion for a larger event. Open dawn to dusk, and lots of entrances to parking lots (just don't plan on parking here for any Westfield State events). Such a special park of Westfield and amazing that so many people join the Friends of Stanley park to fund this wonderful place. The story and history of the local black squirrels belongs to the Stanley's as a gift. A local favorite, if you haven't been yet, you don't know what...
