Stunning! Made it in my Range Rover Velar. Kind of difficult to find from the Arroyo Salado entrance.... I looked up directions from various online blogs, and the one I thought was most useful was actually misleading. You basically follow the main wash/arroyo until very shortly after the turn off to the seventeen palms oasis (also pretty) and then take a right at the 5 Palms Oasis. After you go to 5 palms, just continue down that road and always keep to the left until you get to the Pumpkin Patch. The very end when you're within walking distance to the Pumpkin Patch is also kind of confusing, but the worst is over. I went right after a bunch of rain, however, so all the tire marks were gone, so I'm sure if you go when it hasn't rained recently, it will be easier to follow the path.

Just one of the many cool and interesting spots in Ocotillo Wells. Please do not deface the rocks by writing on them with chalk! So disrespectful. While you can make it out to the pumpkin patch in a 2wd suv it's not recommended. The easiest way to get there is down Pole Line Rd to Tule Wash but like any wash it can be soft deep sand. 4wd or a bike is recommended. There is a restroom and shade structure along with a picnic table. Be sure to read the informational displays so you can learn how the pumpkins formed.

We always end up camping off of Pole Line rd. So the pumpkin patch is a mission from there! This time we all hopped in the 4runner to head there. If you follow the directions on Google maps, it's way off..so we just kept going towards the Pumpkin Patch marker on the map taking different trails and finally reached it. It's really cool how all of these pumpkins form and how there is so many in one spot. Fun adventure trying to find it too!
