Cute park visited by many dogs. We were pleasantly impressed by dog owners' care for park etiquette. Everyone is mindful of their dogs and observing if space is needed/ leashes are needed to help dogs navigate the trails successfully. Everyone was courteous and nice, which is a basic thing to highlight but not one that can be taken for granted. It made the visit so much better!
The trails are marked, but sparingly so. However, they are easy to follow as many loop around. Quite a number of trails all throughout. You can spend as much or as little time wandering around. This is a rare park and a treasured one! Many people are frequent visitors. I can see why. I am one now myself!
(Dog trail ettiquette 101 in places with off-leash privileges: be aware of dogs who are leashed and call your dog by your side, then clip their leash back on. Seeing someone with a leashed dog usually means that their dog wants space, is easily overexcitable, or wanders off a bit too far. It does not mean it's a dangerous dog. Leashes are great at keeping dogs safe, whatever the case. So, without judgement, be nice and help your community by being a respectful and responsible dog owner. You can unclip your dog again after they both...
Read moreNobody could design a better dog park if they tried. Perfect amount of space and perfect spatial proportions, friendly and down-to-earth people (mostly) lots of different landscapes (woodlands, fields, a pond, streams, swamps, hills, meadows; this geographic diversity also making it great place to birdwatch) its 100% off-leash, multiple parking locations (main parking lot, as well as other entrances at other points of the park) and most of all, a great place for your dog to socialize and meet other dogs of different shapes and colors. Unfortunately, the residents of Drabbington got the Town of Weston to enforce a "Weston Residents Only on Weekends" rule, which oftentimes makes the park empty on weekends, because most of the parks traffic comes from the surrounding towns, so thats a bit of a bummer. Another thing to look out for is families that dont have dogs, because usually they are unaware that its a dog park and whine about the dogs doing completely normal stuff, (some idiot complaining about the dogs peeing in the pond, which they don't even do) but besides that, non-dog walkers are usually pretty reasonable and friendly. Overall, amazing park and...
Read moreWe love Cat Rock! We have two Boxer dogs, Charger & Diesel. Charger has difficulty walking for more than 1/4 mile due to past surgeries on his rear knees. Anyway, Cat Rock has the greatest ponds for dogs who like to swim. My wife and I found out about Cat Rock earlier this Summer. Since then we've been back about a dozen times and as a result Charger has lost 7 pounds. This is great and it's all because of the easy swimming at Cat Rock. There is no better way to exercise your dog than swimming (it's totally impact free), especially if he or she has had orthopedic issues. Anyway, Cat Rock is great. We've yet to come across an aggressive dog, the dg owners we've met are all nice people and of all the places we've gone to, this is the best. It must be, we need to drive 11 miles each way, but it's well worth it! Also, once you've parked your car and you and your dog are inside cat Rock, off lead is...
