This was such an amazing experience! I took two candles, a few chalks a knife and a cat and the very first minutes I could already feel it was going to be a great night! I didn't had to look for a secluded place at all, I just walked for a bit and I was already lost. There are like a thousand trails and half of them looked pretty abandoned which was just perfect. You could feel the spirit of the thing! I quickly camped and drew a few stars on the ground just to practice. I thought I would have to fast for a day or two but there are a bunch of turtles there that taste really good! (And helped me with the cat, who needs a knife anyway? Those things bite hard!) Going back to civilization was easy, you just walk in a straight line for a few dozen miles and you will get somewhere. Great place, already recommended it to all my friends that are looking for some experiences. Definitely worthy...
Read moreThe place was good. My gf wanted to surprise me and take me to a new place to explore and it was the Devil's Den. After missing the exit and going in circles for 15 min we finally found the entrance. We parked, and another 15 min were wasted looking for the trail starting point because my gf was leading the hike. The weather was good and we walked the whole trail, spent 5-6 hours walking + 2 hours occasional stops because my gf was tired and wanted to rest. I would say other than that i lost my phone , lost my water bottle, got bit by mosquitoes, was there when it got dark, hiked 1 hour in the dark, gf phone was dead, there was zero visibility, got locked inside the park, had to find to call a ranger to let our car out the hike was pretty good. Oh and just a note there was some loud and eerie monkey noises in the trees. No clue where...
Read more1,746 acres. Miles and miles and miles of trails. Closed due to COVID-19? Foolishness. The Nature Conservancy, who closed this much-needed space, must have no idea how medical science works and seem incapable of park-rangering their own land. They only closed this space and not any other protected spaces in Connecticut that they run. Why? Well, only to appease the ultra-rich (like every other house has a tennis court) Weston estate owners that surround the park. TNC actually said that neighbors feared their "emergency access" would be blocked by people trying to park for hiking. Tell me another one. Complete bullcrap from arrogant citizens that don't want any outsiders near their space. This is what happens when our nature is privatized, classist nonsense...
