2024 - We stayed here in 2019 and had a nice time. During that stay we visited the nearby Holiday Distillery and learned all about Bourbon and Whiskey. Our reasoning for a second stay (part of a four month RV trip) was to visit the distillery again and purchase some of their whiskey (put into cask in 2019). Well darn, didn't watch the calendar and our visit was Sun-Mon, so no joy with the distillery. But at 1100 some of the shops and a few restaurants open in Weston and we found a Holiday Distillery Store where a very nice lady Tessa helped us. We forgot, these sites are electric only, so on arrival we had to fill our water tank. Site was level with a fire pit. Fire wood can be purchased on the honor system at the HOST family site for $5 a bundle. The shower/bath house was clean and there was plenty of hot water. Dump site on exit was easily accessible on exit as were the dumpsters. 2019 - Had a multi-night stay here in July. Had been scheduled to stay at the Lewis and Clark but due to flooding we shifted to Weston Bend. Have to say it was a good switch. We had a nice level site with shade and not a far distance from the bathhouse. The host stopped by several times to check on us. We used the opportunity to visit Historic Weston and tour the Holladay Distillery and both are worth the time for a visit. Weston Bend was clean and the dump site and fresh water point were easy to access as we departed the park. Not a far drive to Kansas and Fort Leavenworth. The bathhouse and toilets were clean. Only reason we're not giving it five stars was the hot water - it was way too hot and impossible for...
Read moreBeautiful state park with great paved & unpaved hiking trails and amazing views of the Missouri River. The park also includes a nice dog park. We brought our camper and stayed four nights. The campsites have paved camper stalls & clean gravel living areas with grill type fire rings, as well as a post to hang your bug zapper. Electric only sites & must fill your reserve water tanks upon entering park. At the same fill tank location there is a single dump station, so you may have to wait in line. There are couple clean bathrooms and a clean shower house with private shower stalls. The camp lots are wooded & semi private and designed to face away from your neighbors unless you pick a side by side family lot. Great for tent camping too. It’s pretty quiet for the most part, unless the campground is full but only about 60 sites total. No annoying street lights to intrude on your peaceful campfire. If camping in the fall, bring a leaf blower. We ended up under a black walnut tree and had to deal with the occasional nut falling. We also got swarmed by stink bugs a couple of days, which fogger seemed to repress them. Bring your Themacell for mosquito control, but that’s all part of camping. Downtown Weston is only a few miles away, it’s just a main street and has many quaint shops & restaurants. There is a house on the way to Weston that sells firewood on the honor system. There’s a Dollar General about 3 miles away for last minute needs. Campground gates close during certain nighttime hours, so we felt relaxed & safe. You do get a get a gate code with your reservation. I’d definitely...
Read moreBeautiful park which overlooks the Missouri River from the bluffs and it's nearby to Weston, MO. At the park there's RV parking, dog park, marked hiking and biking trails, a playground, tobacco barn, scenic overlook, several covered shelters, and lots of beautiful old growth woods to enjoy.
I've never been to the secondary Bee Creek entry to Weston Bend State Park, which is south of the main entrance on 45 highway, but I've seen it from the road and there's a larger covered space for bigger parties there.
I've been coming to this park for 20 years and park management keeps improving the land and the park looks and feels in the best shape ever.
Every October, my family heads out to the park with a bale of hay, and a few pumpkins in the back of our truck, so when we get there, not only are the leaves an amazing backdrop, the hay and pumpkin props make for very memorable family photos.
I've never run into and troublemakers or had any issues at this park. Everyone I've come across has been super friendly.
Entrance to the park is free unless if you want to rent an RV space.
Across the Missouri River, to the West, when at the scenic overlook and walking down the bluff trail, you can see historic Fort Leavenworth.
If you want another fun experience that's super close, head on over to Weston, MO and check that town out. You will have a down-home good time -...
