Love he gorgeous nature over here. There is some really cool trails to check out. While on the trails you will see lots of dragon flies, birds, frogs, flowers, and even turtles. They have a really cool area for kids to play in the water and sand. They also have a garden which was closed when we got there but looks very beautiful from the fence/gate. There also a building to go into which was also closed when we were there so haven't gotten to look inside the building. I have to say though, a very awesome place to be if you enjoy bird watching. We seen a few birds that were so unique and have no idea how to identify them but it was so cool. I am a huge fan of blue birds and there were quite a few of them over around the garden area. Got to see the bright yellow finches and even lots of chipmunks running around. Only spent about an hour and half there but definitely am planning on returning. Just a very nice place to be and next time I really plan to bird watch. So peaceful and very...
Read moreTamarack Nature Center is a wildlife preserve and nature education area located in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. It has a charming visitor center, several miles of trails (paved and unpaved), and scenic vistas. I have spent a great deal of time at Tamarack as I reside nearby and it is one of my favorite places to visit. It is a great place to go bird watching, see deer, and chance upon turkeys. During the summer months there are opportunities to see turtles and migratory waterfowl (great blue herons, sandhill cranes, egrets, geese, and ducks). The preserve is also great for kids, as it has interactive play spaces and the visitor center hosts educational opportunities. In the winter months they also offer snowshoe and ski rentals to explore the preserve. I would highly recommend Tamarack to anyone who hasn't been there. You will not be...
Read moreI love tamarack. It's one of the best nature centers in the Twin Cities. I used to teach preschool and I would bring my students there every fall to learn about squirrels, apples, and other fall-related things. It was a huge hit and it was always so after appropriate. Now I take my daughter there in the summer to enjoy their garden and exploration area. They have a beautiful garden area where kids can water the garden, play, learn about plants, and just flex that curiosity muscle that they so naturally always want to flex. They also have a fun rock area to climb on, a creek to play in, trails, and a big stuck area to play and build with sticks. You guys, you have to go there. It's the best for kids. Truly. It's so awesome for curiosity, sensory, imaginative play, cooperative play, socialization, adventure, and...
